Fruit and vegetables are very cheap and the healthiest you can eat. And cooking is fun and relaxing. Use your imagination :-)

I never understood how people can get bored. For me there are not enough hours in the day. I walk, I cook, I read, I study...

The Mediterranean diet with lots of fruit, vegetables and olive oil is the healthiest. Less heart diseases and cancer.

A few years ago I was staying at a hotel on Tenerife when some English people came by and asked me if they served "English food" at the hotel. I said : there is a buffet three times a day with many different foods to choose from. But they kept asking : "but do they serve English food ???"

Untill today I still don't know what they meant. Did they mean fish and chips, beans on toast and fried eggs, drenched in that brown sauce ? That's what I saw English people eat all the time. Why not be a little adventurous when on holiday and try something new. It might be a nice suprise :-)

If you cook your food yourself then it won't be as you say "swimming in oil" .

But then I would not be eating out would I. We do frequent a spanish restaurant which only sells English or Italian style food and four of us can eat there for less than €120 which compared to UK prices is very reasonable.
