Hi

Hope it's ok to ask this, but we are thinking of moving to Camposol in the next few months, and our plan was to buy/open a cafe sandwich shop.

But after looking into this more we have been advised this could be a bad idea, due to high rents, tax, and a lot of new businesses fail within a year.

So my question is,if you don't own your own business or work for your self how do you get an income if your not of pension retiring age.

Thanks Neil

You have to take into account the location of your business and what you are serving.  Will it be like the traditional afternoon with the sandwiches and pastries?  I have a lot of Spanish friends who love that sort of thing.

Camposol seems to be well served by the residents and non residents and so I think you need to be sureof the location and what it is you are going to offer (like any business really)

On B there is already a very nice café next to the Alley Pali as well as a coffee shop on the corner and down by the supermarket so you need to be sure that you will capture enough trade. From what I have seen in the last 3 years the majority of places seem to be well established, get good foot traffic and I have not seen many fail. With the opening of the hotel as well I would expect more businesses to thrive as Camposol itself should on the upsurge

However, it does not matter where you are setting up a new business is always a gamble and so the required due diligence needs to be done

In addition to the earlier posts there is a Spanish run family business on A sector which provides delicious home made cakes/scones & savouries with an established local trade.

It may be worth discussing with someone professionally what your start up costs & required   licences maybe so that you then will be able to make an informed decision
