Good Afternoon Everyone,

We are knew to the forum so I will apologise if these questions have been asked before. We are both in our 50s and both ex forces and want to settle in this area. We have looked on A place in the sun websites for advice etc but best to hear it from those who have done it.

We are looking to buy somewhere like the link above but unsure what sector that is in or where exactly it is in Camponol.

We do plan to come out and do research ourselves this year sometime.

Do we need to live there for so long before we can register as residents or are we only allowed to stay for so many months at a time.

If there is anyone that lives there permanently who could point us in the right direction for advice.

Looking for advice on removals from Scotland to Camponol.

Paying for utilities is it the same as uk i.e direct debit and how much roughly per month.

What are the cots for pool cleaning service.

Local ex pat social groups.or any voluntary work I can undertake.

I have loads more questions but dont want to bombard you all.

Kind regards

Ian & Rachel

Just looked on Villaquest - map indicates the property is on Sector D - e-mail them for confirmation.

I do not have a pool - but on this forum  price ranges from 50 euro's a month for pool cleaning.

Contact Costa Calida Property Services - they will be able to answer any of your questions fully or look at Jim's Guides.

Removal firm Lords Removal - based in UK and Murcia.

We live just outside Glasgow and have a holiday home in Murcia. We don't know Camposol other than via this forum, but can help with more general advice - and happy to answer any specifics in a PM.

The villa you've shown looks great - I assume you know you'll need about 10-12% on top of any purchase price to pay all the other associated costs to purchase in Spain?

Utilities - most properties are electric-only, some may have lpg or gas bottles for additional heating (you need it in the winter months), or a wood-burner. I see this villa has hot & cold air-con which would be a bonus. Electricity is a little more expensive than in the UK and you will consume more (due to no gas) - particularly on air-con, swimming pool pump (and even more if your pool is heated) and in heating your hot water. You pay by direct debit and all properties have smart meters so you pay for exactly what you use. If you're planning on the long-term, solar panels would really help. There are no 'feed in tariffs' like the UK, but they would break even in about 5 years just on reduced charges.

Pool cleaning / maintenance should be about €60 per month for weekly visits, but if you're living there full-time you'll probably just start to do it yourself.

Hope this helps!

there are no shops ,bars on D , 8min drive, so you deff need a car, some areas have no lightning, beware,

this villa has underbuild ,beware of flooding, some roofs leak, best to buy at top of hill if poss,

but its not all gloom n doom, most are fine, just pointing out what to look for,

plenty social groups, gardening, bus trips, fiestas, most importantly, help, plenty around to give advice,

check out, shaun, expat in  mazarron on youtube, invaluable vids on camposol.

you also have debbie shaw on fb, for nie , residency advice,

camposol has everything but you must visit , it may not be for you,

you can rent or buy a car ,

check out country club, very nice but community fees.avg 50e mnth

plenty posts on how much you need to live, but £1000 month is a good guide, some live on less,

google jimbo the scot for removals, join camposol fb page ,guy in p,heed does removals too, cant remember name,

but you will get lots of advice on fb

Hi Ian, the villa looks lovely, however it is very remote with regard to amenities. If you and your missus like to socialise, which like myself ex forces like to do, then you need to buy on Sector B which I consider the best closely followed by Sector A. Even these sectors have villa's that are quite a long walk to the the bars and restaurants. It is imperative that you do a thorough recce before you commit to anything. Of course it all depends on what you want out of your life on Camposol and what your priorities are. I am writing this from the perspective of an eighty plus year old ex squaddie who visits Camposol twice a year and have rented on all sectors, when there I do like to enjoy myself on Sector B more amenities there. Incidentally I was Cavalry so do not like walking. Lol. Wishing you all the best and hope you are very happy with what you buy and enjoy the lovely laid back life that Camposol has to offer.

Yes of course it is different when buying, which I would have done in 2008, but the Cam bank let me down badly and I lost my deposit. However it does not make my opinions any different with regard to life on Camposol and it's locations amenities and lifestyle. Which I enjoy immensely when I am over. Have a flight booked for Oct circumstances allowing will be back.

We moved here from Stirling last October, both retired, plus our Lab. We were looking at A, B and C as we considered D to be too far out. We bought on Sector A: it was just the best that suited our needs. We used Steve Lord for removals and some storage while we travelled down and for a week while all the paperwork was completed. We used Debbie Shaw to do our residencia, health card, driving licences and car import, and she got the lot done in a record two months. We pay 60€ a week for the pool - visits once weekly off season, twice in season plus on call for problems of course. We don’t scrimp on anything but live much more cheaply than in the UK. There is a lively and friendly community and the beach 20 mins away.

(right villa right price at the time of looking) that was 2years ago.. €50 pool for weekly visit.. as we arrived in October.. after a couple of visits to be shown the ropes hubby now cleans it...

We took almost 2 years to look around different areas... nd countries....stayed/rented on camposol twice..... viewd All Sectors....which area you decide on/if you do ... we hope you will be very happy... camposol has a great community spirit..

Thanks Gloria,

You seemed to have done your homework before you settled. Are you out there full time or do you come home after a few months. I think that what we will be doing. We will defo visit there and other areas. Im mindful now of the underbuilds and flood damage. So will more questions for the state agents when  it comes.

Kind regards

Ian
