Hello, all, my name is Sue and have just joined the Forum which I have to say is very helpful and very friensly.  I have been highly recommended to look  into Camposol by a friend who lived there for 3 years but unfortunately due to personal reasons had to return. . I will be looking to sell in UK around summer. I am hoping to visit late February to start to have a look around, can anyone advise good areas, I will be doing it on my own, so trying to find out as much as possible am looking for semi/detached, house. Don.'t want to be in busy area, but walking distance to amenities. Does it still have the Spanish feeling as been told it is very  English.. Probably wont have a car, but maybe a scooter.

1. How far are the beaches is it walkable, buses available etc.

2. Is it safe for a single female?

3. What would be an average monthly budget for one person ie. utilities or any other costs (not including entertaining, will sort that myself, (cant wait)!

4. Can someone explain the health system, do you have to have health insurance or is there a spanish NHS (I am due to have knees replaced at some point so not sure whether to try and have done here or there)

4. Any good ideas on best estate agents

5. Is there a bus service from airport to Camposol. If taxi how much.

6. Any ideas where to stay cheap (literally just to sleep) while I come out to look around about 2/3 nights at a time.

7. What is weather like in winter, especially February/March as that is when I amplanning to make my first visit.

Cheers  much appreciated, I know there are a lot of questions, but any advice would be helpful. I have been on several sites, blowing my head off lols!

Cheers Sue

Hi Sue

Welcome. we have been an owner for 1 year now. so I may not have all of the answers you need, but this will help. hopefully.

1 - nearest beach is about 15 minute drive away & you will not be able to walk it, because of the motorway. I didn't think there is buses for this. but I may be wrong.

2 - Personally I would say camposol is very safe for you. Just take normal care like you would anywhere in the world.

3 - This depends on the size of your property ?. our cost [ for a Rebecca property ] electric 45 euros .water 25. internet 30. p c sums. then add food, home insurance [ ours 95 euros per year ] etc you can get internet cheaper if you shop around.

4a - No Spanish NHS you will need private health insurance. I cant help you on cost here.

4b - I recommend Another World Properties [ estate agent sector B ] Vinny will show you around everywhere, including beaches etc.

He's very good and went out of his way, to help us make a decision about camposol. obviously there are other estate agents. but I didn't like [ mercers & luz de sol ] they just wanted to sell me something and that's it. Rushed us around & didn't give us time.

5 - I believe there is now a bus service from airport [ please check ] taxi will be 50 / 60 euros each way. if you speak to Vinny [ above ] he will arrange a lift either way for you in advance. providing your looking at some of his properties.

6 - Again Vinny will assist you with this in advance. And tell you best places.

7 - Weather, normally sunny most days. some rain but not a lot. temp approx. 18 - 21 in the day . 11 - 13 at night. I would say come prepared just in case [ light & warm clothing ] .

if you will not have a car, I would only recommend sector A + B so you can walk to shops etc. but these are more noisy areas.

Sectors C + D are quieter, but further away from shops etc but these are the cheaper areas to buy also.

hope this helps. when you speak to Vinny [ another world properties ] tell him we recommended him.

Regards

Ian & Lindsey.

Yes indeed, you have many questions on your mind.

I will suggest you watch "Expat in Mazarron" on YouTube.  His name is Shaun Matthews. Watch his old and recent videos,  you will find it very informative.

I disagreed with Twinselect views on Sectors A & B that they are both noisy. The noisy areas are contained within the commercial areas, otherwise, outside of these areas are very quiet.

You can try Camposolpropertysales.com, managed by Lee Fisher. He wasn't pushy but very helpful. However, you must have a budget and must stick to it because houses/villas are quite tempting when viewing them in Camposol and you may end up buying a property over and above what you can afford in the long term.

Monthly expenses vary, depending on the size of your property, pool, how often you dine out and so on.

Best of luck in your search.

I'm sorry but there is FREE Spanish NHS, IF you become a resident. We became full residents in december and tomorrow we will apply for Securidad Social in Totana.

Yes if you are not a resident, you'll have to pay for private insurance. But you can't stay in Spain for more than 180 days in a row WITHOUT becoming a resident, that is the law. However many don't follow this rule...

Hi. To be blunt I not sure if you are condemning these people.....but is it possible to just stay under the radar, rent perhaps and take your chances. I mean..... I have a few quid behind me, can I not just be on holiday for a very long time?

Use to be the case but not any more.

Lots of ways now for the Spanish government to keep a track of you.

Passport control, NIE number to get water, electric & bank account to name but a few.

Any of those that think they are still 'under the radar' are fast getting ON the radar !!

Or going back to the UK.
