Hi all, we currently have our house up for sale in the UK and looking at property In Camposol. I know we will need  NIE numbers to purchase, but when I have checked online about how to apply, the bulk of it seems to be in Spanish. I know the basics but it looks like I need to be fluent. Could anyone please offer advice on the best way to do this? TIA

Hi, your solicitor will obtain your NIE's as part of the house buying process.  Hope this helps.

Could be a fortunate lesson for you - you should be starting to learn Spanish from the moment you decide you want a home here.

We gave power of attorney to our solicitor in Spain to obtain ours, open bank account, deal with house purchase, utilities etc whilst we were in UK. Highly recommend Xerxes in the port and get a survey done.

Good luck.

Wow what a great idea. Obviously doing this already, but may come as a surprise - it doesn’t happen overnight.

It's not easy. My husband has been having weekly lessons with Jon at Trevi bar upstairs for over 4 years and 1 2 1 conversational with his Spanish partner Josephina for a year. Good for you trying. My hubby also does duolingo but not as good but he still enjoys the challenges.

Thank you. Yes we’re also using Duolingo and local classes, but as you say - it’s not easy.
