What utter nonsense! The EU is made up of 27 states and Barnier is merely one person and cannot destroy anything on his own. This persecution complex that some people have about their precious UK being "punished" by the whole world and his brother is utterly absurd. The destruction of the UK has ...

...been self-administered, lead by the ERG and all the other investors who have huge amounts of money invested in the failure of the talks, and its current desperation to pass the blame onto others is laughable!

The irony is that the uk voted to leave the UK but can't even get a deal that was any near as good as when we were a member state..Just my opinion.

Sorry, entitled to disagree, just watch the news, who do you think is causing all the stumbling blocks?

totally agree , how can a few rule so many? they were not elected by the people, so you get petty dictators who will do anything rather than lose what they reign over.

Did you personally vote for David Frost to be leading the UK negotiation team?

Clearly sdb137 you are a conspiracy theory follower.

My sympathies for your condition.

Just to remind you that the UK voted to leave and must suffer and WILL suffer the consequences.

The EU is trying to rescue some common sense out of this banal, solely UK caused disaster.

Sorry you do not feel for the UK, I take it you are not British, or you would care.

No matter where you are, if you were born in UK, you should protect your natural country of birth, you may need it sooner than you think,

I care for my country. I do NOT care for the Cummins comrades who have caused this mess. About time Boris started to be Prime Minister of the UK  not just a few friends. Also listen to Euro news for insight in to the negotiations.  Very illuminating.

WOW think some are getting angry - everyone is entitled to their own opinion . Just a PERSONAL view I have found that it is mostly ex-pats who seem to want to make their views known! but why? you need to put all that energy into your new country. You turned your back on the UK so save your views for your new country. I wouldn't dream of putting my views of the spanish government out there as I am not a resident.

Nationalistic jingoism is one of the reasons that Brexit it happening! Where we were born is just a accident of nature but where we choose to reside, is our personal choice and doesn't mean that we are "turning our back on the UK". Are people who choose to move out of London to go and live in in Yorkshire, "turning their back on London" or just moving to the country? Or are you only considered as being a traitor, if you dare to move outside the current borders of the entire country? I consider myself a citizen of the world, of the EU, of the UK and of Hampshire but that's where I was born and I owe no allegiance to it as a place. In 1983, I chose Spain as the country that I wanted to live in and the Canary Islands as the place that drew me to it at the time. Since then, I have moved around several times within the island of Tenerife, then moved to Lanzarote and lived there for 15 years and have just moved to Murcia, where my next adventure is about to begin, once Murcia opens up the municipal closures.  All the places that I have lived have left me with wonderful memories and I expect there to be more as time goes by. None of those places owned me or demanded my undying love and I definitely do not consider that I have to exercise some sort of flag-waving nonsense to prove my identity. I've been working on my family tree for the past few years and find that I have ancestors from as far back as the 12th century from France, Belgium, Spain, and Denmark and it's only when you discover that your 10th great grandparents were Huguenots fleeing from persecution by the 16th century French Catholic church and their consequent escape to the UK, that you realise that the UK is made up of a mix of peoples from all over Europe and beyond. We don't need to limit ourselves to staying in the same little village for 200 generations or wrapping ourselves up in a flag and singing a national anthem, to prove who we are. For someone who doesn't actually live in Spain, Anthomo certainly likes to make his opinions heard!

OMG, role your neck in please? Haven't you read the papers? Boris is going for talks with Barnier and Co. but he won't get anywhere, as many last Prime ministers have tried and failed ! As for having good membership rights, where have you been burying your head? Fishing rights! farmers! Why do you think Merkel went mad? it's because Germany would have to pay more and they are broke so good old UK can pay more.As for not surviving without the EU , are you having a laugh? Look at Norway? need I say more?

Hi,

Read all of the posts on here. A lot of confusion.

My wife and I intend moving to Murcia when Covid-19 restrictions permit - under the NLV route.

I have a Royal Naval Pension of around £17,000 pa. My state pension is in 2029. My wife gets a civil service pension in 2 years worth around £3000pa. We`d expect to have around £80,000 in savings after purchasing a property in Murcia outright.

Would we pass the financial ruling, and has anything changed?. Last post here was December 2020

Warm regards to you all.

Graham.

Spanish Consulate Update - application and income requirements, post Brexit - confirmation, Non-Lucrative Visa.

This link (above) goes on a bit, but if you follow it through you will see the current financial requirements for the Non-Lucrative Visa.

You pensions incomes alone do not qualify you.

You could probably make it work by evidencing pension income+cash in the bank.

It now seems that UK citizens legally Resident in Spain will get S1 healthcare (funded by UK) at age 66.
