We are moving over from Scotland in September we have bought a great villa in D..

My wife is Irish so coming in on EU freedom of movement.

Section D is great for us quiet and great views.

Decent price with pool.

Lots of paperwork but we’ll worth it.

Hi, if your wife is Irish, she gets free movement, but you will be stuck with the 90 day rule if you do not have a EU passport.

To get a Irish passport on the back of your partner, you have to live in Ireland for 2 years , check all out carefully, some people have been caught out over this.

We have just bought on Camposol and are moving in September. We also bought through 2Let2Sell2Buy.com and Dawn and her team were great. We worked with an independant lawyer and we're happy we made that choice. We did not rent before we decided to buy on Camposol. We thought long and hard about wh...

...at exactly we wanted out of our life in Spain and already had a good list of requirements for our new home under the sun before we went to Spain to do our property search. We drove around all the sectors of Camposol several times to get the look and feel of each sector (during day and night). We visited the bars and restaurants on sector A and B and took a couple of days to explore the Murcia region. We visited Murcia, Isla Plana, Bolnuevo, Puerto de Mazarron, Aguilas, etc. This gave us enough confidence to buy without renting first. Eventually we bought on sector A because of the location of the house (shortest drive to the beaches), the look and feel of the house and the street it's on and because of the proximity to all the amenities (bars & restaurants on sector A and only a 600 meter walk to the commercial center on sector B). This is the third time we move to a different country (born in Holland, lived in Belgium and currently living in Sweden) and we've met more people in 2 weeks "vacation" on Camposol than we did in our first years in Belgium or Sweden.

Good luck.

Hi all,

We are looking at a move maybe next year and are hearing many different views on living on the Camposol  and also back here in the UK about moving to Spain in general .I would like to hear peoples, thoughts and feelings on the subject, as I don't want any scaremongering to influence the deci...

Richard and Nicola

Good luck with your move.  I've read some of the replies and agree that its like marmite . We personally hate the place because we came here not just to live the Spanish way but we have always lived 5 mins from the sea having lived on the isle of wight for 45 years. We live in el alamillo nr Puerto de mazarron and wouldn't choose anywhere else.  We didn't think we could find another paradise like the isle of wight  each to their own and having said that camposol has some beautiful properties and great views it's just not for us hence why we are all different.  Good luck with whatever you choose

As long as the Irish (EU) citizen has registered for residency in Spain the 3rd country national (ie, non-EU) can 'piggy-back' off of them, as long as both have health insurance and meet the financial requirement (about 6000 euros each) and have proof of accommodation. My partner and I are going through the process at the moment.

Interesting, my neighbour has a Irish passport, but his wife does not.

After applying for a passport on the back of him, she has been told no, she has to live in Ireland for 2 years to qualify, and there is no way around it.

Without that passport she is registered at the airport coming in, and on the 90 day count down.

It could be because they do not have residency, and do not want it, as tax applies upon all worldly assets 720 Dec.

And of course become tax paying upon residency.

All seems complicated.

Hi there is a difference between living is Spain with someone that has an Irish passport and applying for an Irish passport.

As someone said as long as the Irish passport holder registers in Spain within the 90 days the Uk passport holder can stay as long as they do.

I assume its the same as my neighbours, Mr has the Irish passport, Mrs does not,

Mrs applied for a Irish passport on the back of Mr, answer from the Irish passport office ( NO ) you must live in Ireland for a minimum of 2 years to apply for a Irish passport.

So this scuppered their plans, as the 90 day applies to Mrs, and she is logged in at the Spanish airport, and logged out to see she does not breach the 90 days, or heavy fines are applied.

In addition, the EU passport for non Spanish residents I believe has a limit on time also, or you become liable for tax, and will be asked to complete the 720 declaration, ( please check this with your solicitor, I can only go by my neighbours who are stuck over this )

You need it checked legally, and in writing.

Not sure what you mean, any passport non EU, can stay for 90 days total any way, but cannot breach the 90 day rule.

Brits in Benidorm used to stay for up to 6 months to get away from the Brit winter, but now non EU passport holders, as they are now, due to Brexit, can only stay 90 days.
