This is the content of Tom's letter to the Mayor, received via email yesterday:

CAMPOSOL RESIDENTS ANTI-ENTITY PROGRAM

For the attention of Senor Gaspar Miras Lorente. Mayor of Mazarron

Dear Sir,

I write as the representative of a large number of Camposol residents. The residents wish you to understand their opposition to the imposition of entities or, as you term them, Associations of House Holders.

Camposol is in a condition which means some areas of Camposol more properly belong in a third world country rather than in one of Europe’s great nations.

Camposol has been the provider of prosperity in Mazarron in a very positive way, in the stimulation of commercial actively, the huge contribution in retail spending and in the support of many other services. Camposol as a unit has been a provider of more wealth to Mazarron than any other identifiable provider.

In addition the Council has received millions in IBI taxation and provided no services in return.

We wish you to understand that the residents of Camposol are not prepared to take on the burden of your failure to properly police a rouge developer Masa who has left Camposol in a condition which shames Spain.

We all of us understand that we have accepted the role of entity management in the fullness of time when the Urbanization is brought up to civilised standard.  That time is a long way off and will cost many millions to achieve. The cost of achieving reasonable standards must fall on the Town Council, the Regional Council or the National Government; it cannot and will not come out of the pockets of the residents of Camposol who purchased properties believing they were buying into a properly administrated Urbanization. Many of these residents are retired and on restricted incomes.

We have organised a Public meeting in order that residents can make plain their opposition to the creation of entities. This meeting is organised on the basis of prior commitment to attend and I can tell you that the response is staggering.

We formally invite you, the Mayor, to join us on the platform of that meeting to explain exactly what your intentions are in this matter.

On another matter, there is some dispute as to whether the Council has issued a Fin De Obras for the Urbanization. You will have the opportunity to deny or confirm that fact if you attend the meeting. If, as we suspect, you have indeed issued a Fin De Obras, we require that such a document be formally withdrawn. In the event that you refuse to confirm that a Fin De Obras for Camposol has been withdrawn we will commence legal action to ensure that the document is withdrawn.

Camposol does not meet the legal requirements that are mandatory in law to enable a Fin De Obras to be issued.

I look forward to receipt of your reply to this invitation and hope you will attend. There will obviously be significant hostility from people who believe they are being deprived of their rights but the meeting will be conducted in an orderly manner.

The meeting will be attended by more people than you have ever seen on Camposol and I urge you to meet the residents and explain the Council position. The date and venue for the meeting will be communicated to you in due course and is likely to be held during the second week in January 2020

Regards

Tom Finnegan

Just a thought!

Good on you Tom Finnegan ! -  Exact tone of what is needed with Mazarron Council !  No messing ! I support this movement to the utmost and pray we will get a good response from all Camposolers at the forthcoming meeting. No apathy!

It would have been better if you had run a spell check before sending this. The tone of the letter is I believe not conducive to enabling further discussions to move forward positively.
