I cannot find the price of warfarin but I suggest that a bigger concern might be the cost of the private health insurance, with the history behind the need for warfarin?

Warfarin is very cheap, in Spain the range of 1-2 euro for a months dose, depending on strength. Typically, private clinic blood tests are in the order of 6-8 euros.
However, as Peter says, the underlying cause, the ongoing necessary blood tests, and its medical management on a health plan is the key issue. Signing up to a private medical plan to cover that all would probably be around 60 euros per month.
Thanks for the help, if it is in that ballpark price we can still budget for this.

I was on warfarin(6yrs) and at pharmacy 100 box was just a couple of euros so very cheap, however as we started staying 3months per visit my doctor changed my anticoagulant to a newer no testing one which is brilliant. I used to pay 12€ for a INR test at pharmacy once per 12wk visit(non residents). My suggestion is get her anticoagulant changed before relocating and the cost is a lot less to the nhs (or spanish health system).

Pauline.

Hi Paul
My husband has also been changed to a anticoagulant tablet. We are due to move out permanently in Feb. Can you advise how much these tablets cost and are they readily available at most pharmacies?
I havent had to buy my new anticoagulant in Spain as my doctor now has amended all my medication to 3 month supply on each online order, which is just perfect for our 90day stays. I wouldnt expect them to be dear, my dearest medicine was ramapril at 10€ for months supply. If you order medicine online order a manual amount with message to cover a long stay. If relocating get Doctor to give you several months supply to tide you over until you get health service sorted.
Regards
Pauline.
Buy a coagucheck machine from Roche for about £300 and test strips and test yourself. I’ve been doing that for years
