We have our S1s  (and NIEs now) which means UK health services are now not responsible for our Health Care.  But until we get the Residentia too we cannot register the S1s with the local Medical services!

Spain says it 'MAY' honour free health service from date of S1s (17/06/20) ...meaning that Spain MAY also not be responsible for our Health Care too?

We are both retired and although we do not anticipate needing medical attention one never knows!  Should we get private health insurance to cover us?

Has anyone else been in this situation?

you can use your EHIC card until your medical card is sorted but if you have your S1and need it your local medical centre should accept it.

Thanks Cwissy.  We do have our EHICs too and I guess if push came to shove....

.Our abogado says our apps for Residencia should be done & submitted next week.  But as far as she can ascertain it will be Sept time before we get the certificates.   That will be our final hurdle in the complex, drawn out process of moving here.  Phew.

Yes, this is becoming a major problem. Has your Abogado said if you are getting your identity card, the TI ? I think you have to prove your income etc for that. And yes, we could be in big doo dah, if the UK Gov do  not agree to the reciprocal  agreement about health. You can use your ehic till end of Dec. Hopefully by then we will all know where we stand. I have been told that DKV are very good. We have used them privately for physio, and they only charged half price per session (12€ ) because my partner is an oap.

Muy lentamente!

I got mixed up between the Padron and the Residencia.  It's the Padron we should have sometime in Sept.  Only then can we apply for Residencia..... so it will be muy lentamente :-))
