Has anyone got their private medical insurance with DKV and what are your thoughts?
I’m based in camposol so especially interested to hear from people on the urbanisation who use them and how local the docs etc are from here

The poster wasn't asking about the over worked UK N.H.S ...they enquired about Spanish private health insurance ..I presume to become Residents ..you only need a private health insurance for the first year then you can go on the Spanish N.H.S system at around €65 per month per person.

It's not just about cost or about applying for Residency. When you gain Residency, your PHI will, at least for a while, become your only source of healthcare. So accessibility and quality are the important factors.
My wife and I have our health insurance with DKV . My wife became seriously ill last year, and they have been absolutely fantastic.
BUT we have had to travel to obtain treatment and tests, mostly to the Quiron Hospital in Murcia. We have also used (I think) 8 other medical facilities in Murcia, Elche and Torrevieja.
This seems to be quite normal. We have met numerous other people "doing the rounds" - each having different insurers.
Into the detail .... insurers may quote the various clinics and hospitals that they use, but in reality, they pick and choose exactly what services they contract for at which hospital. So if your insurer's brochure says that they use (say) Quiron or IMED hospitals/clinics, the city you have to go to depends on the medical service you need.
We use a GP in our village (not the health centre) and she acts as the gateway into the DKV system - and she is very good at it.
Our local GP works with DKV (which may be why our local insurance broker recommended DKV). So it seems that the most important thing is to have an insurer who works with your local GP.
We have a neighbour who uses a different insurer. Her nearest insurer-affiliated GP is 50 minutes away by car.
Thanks for replies. Very helpful and sounds like a very good service.
I have been emailing DKV in Cadiz. Is there an office in Mazarrón or close to camposol?

We bought our DKV insurance from a broker local to us. From memory, the paperwork came through in around 2 weeks (we paid in full).
Many insurance brokers offer DKV.
Assuming their website is up to date ... Ibex offer DKV, and are at Camposol Business Centre, Urb. Camposol, Sector A. Calle Madrid, 19, 30875 Camposol.

There are several other brokers in Mazarron.

Yes i know untill your 65 then you pay over a 100 and so it`s still cheaper to go private, what`s your problem with me quoting the uk NHS as a comparison,

The poster wasn't asking about the UK NHS..you live in Spain now so you should be making comparisons with the Spanish NHS.
