Nothing to be confused about.. Basically if you are under UK pension age in your case 67 ...you will need to get a job that pays your NI contributions in Spain ..if you are married only one of you needs to be paying NI contributions the other one will be covered by the one that is working providing you are married   .. If you do not intend working you will need private health care this will cost around €200 per month  for two people...you will need private health care for the first year to apply for residents status.... if you want to stay permanently  or to become permanent residents you will need a income of €1,600 per month between you going into your bank account to qualifie ....when you are accepted as residents ...this takes around 12 months you can cancel your private Health policy and pay into the Spanish NHS direct this will cost your €60 per person you cannot pay into the Spanish NHS if you are not accepted as a residents...as I said before if you cannot find a legal job that pays you NI contributions you will need €1,600 per month going into your bank account and private Healthcare ...before you are accepted as residents...if you only intend using your property as a holiday home you can use the EHIC health card for up to 3 months at a time.
