Spain is greedy??? Why... for expecting citizens from other countries to pay for their own health-care?? All these problems have been brought about by those very same Brits who are whingeing now, when they are the ones who voted to remove their own rights from being an EU country with a...

...ll the benefits that this brought them! Why would any country volunteer to pay the health care of people who have not paid into their system? The Spanish health system is funded by those who pay or have paid social security into the communal pot and is not like the UK system of attending to all and sundry on demand. Even the UK is finally stopping the uncontrolled use of the NHS by anyone and everyone arriving in the UK. The outcome of BREXIT was made clear to the UK population, before the Brexit vote and THIS is the result. Not Spain’s fault nor up to them to fork out for non-EU citizens’ health care! Whilst the moaning continues, Spain is welcoming citizens from other countries, many of whom are coming here under the rules of third countries and complying with them without complaint. It really is time to stop believing that British "ex-pats" keep the Spanish economy afloat all on their own!

The UK still pays for ex pats health care in Spain, shame the Spanish do not pay for those in the UK.

The national health in the UK gives care to any one, for no charge if you have no money, or not a British citizen, thats why it is always short of cash.

Spain is greedy, in finding ways of taking tax from ex pats, look at the 720 declaration, thats if you have completed it as should be done.

They will tax you on private pensions, if you have declared them, and investments in the UK that you may have, again if you have declared them.

The Spanish do not have to declare anything in the UK.

Greedy or what?

Same as us, we have Maltese passports, so still belong to the EU.

Do what ever you can to protect yourself, only when the total EU crashes will we all be equal, and that I think is on the cards.

That’s a fair bit down the line but I agree with you that it will end up being dissolved. I’m a betting man and Italy would be my banker to leave next.

Boris has just announced England’s intention to forge deals with Asia’s and not Europe... ongoing trade deals with Europe could be about to halt for a while.

Brexit won out on people being fed up with the policies on social security, housing and the NHS and how people were perceived to have used and abused these....Spain and other countries have stricter criteria and still people complain, interesting how the narrative changes when it’s impacts personally.

Brits will continue to holiday in Spain

Brits will continue to dream of retiring to Spain

And some Brits will achieve their dream and Mellee07 I hope you are one...living in the sunshine does wonders for the head and heart...

As for UK citizens leaving Spain, this my happen but only for those who can afford to return, lots of people sold their homes in England and are not in a position to return to live in what is now a much more expensive country to live in...

As for arrogance and stupidity....there’s lots of it about ....😂😂😂

Having achieved my dream and not requiring advice...I’ll leave this thread to those trying to figure it out......

Yep I agree, but watch Germany, there is a strong underlaying party that wants out, so could be a big surprise.

Hi i am 65 and havde full health care with DKV they are the best,

We are with ASSSA, and have also been great, had a knee injury, and the treatment and care has been fantastic.

However now I have reached 67 this year when it runs out in December, I will get the health care tx over from the UK, as if you are drawing a old age UK government pension,  and still retain a UK address, you still retain UK - NHS care, along with the wife.( I think there was a mention of having been a former civil servant )

Yes it was a surprise to me, but I checked, and its right.

Along with this our Maltese citizenship entitles us to EU health care.
