I asked a similar question a while ago and got no response.
I will be moving to Camposol at the beginning of July. I will be bringing my bows with me.
I really want to continue shooting.
I will also be bringing a small portable target. It's pretty good and will stop arrows from any bow.
I have 2 target Compounds, A take down recurve target bow, a single piece hunter bow, a Longbow and an American Flat Bow. All are right handed except for the Longbow, which could be used left handed.
I also have a small left handed take down recurve that my grandson used. He's outgrown it. :)
I would really like to get involved with a local club, but can't find any via the Internet.
If there are no clubs, we could start one!

Hi there, did you ever find any info on local archery clubs?
Camposol is one area we have on our list as a retirement location and an archery club is high on my wish list.
Like you I have many bows and shoot compound barebow for field, recurve freestyle and compound unlimited for target. Also dabble with longbow on the odd occasion.
Cheers, Phil

Hi Phil
I've been here 3 months now. :)
There don't appear to be any clubs in the local Camposol area. There are some in Murcia and Cartagena, a bit of a drive away (abt 40 miles). I have written to one of the Cartagena clubs and am awaiting a reply.
I have spoken with some local sites and one of them was receptive to the idea of a range. That's about 5 miles from Camposol. I will be following it up.
There appear to be some licencing issues with Bows, apparently they are considered as Category 7 firearms in Spain. I'm hoping the club in Cartagena can guide me. I suspect a licence is probably a membership card for the Spanish Archery Association. I hope to find out soon.
regards
Tony

Fantastic info Tony, thanks, much appreciated. I'll keep digging from this end. One of my club members is an avid bowhunter and l know he has hunted in Spain, not that l want to kill anything but his brains may be worth picking.

Hi again, just in case you've not seen this befroe, found it on reddit ........
"I'm a spaniard, so to clarify the situation a bit, this is the law that regulates weapons in Spain. The law regulates the possesion and use of weapons including both firearms and other types of weapons such as bows or crossbows.
The possesion and use of guns is regulated in that the person that uses them has to be licensed to do so, and the gun ownership has to be registered. Crossbows are regulated as guns in that sense.
Bows do not require a license to own or use, but there has to be a legitimate reason to own and use one. Usually this is interpreted as either using it to hunt (which requires a hunting license) or for target sport (which requires membership in one of the archery federations, usually in the spanish archery federation which is the local chapter of WA in Spain). What that means is that simply being in an archery club is enough to own and use a bow without problems.
Some archery stores ask for your license ID when you try to buy archery equipment with them, and some do not. I suppose that the ones that ask are simply trying to cover themselves in case there is some accident caused by someone using a bow adquired in that store who did not know how to use it properly. The federation requires proof of having done a beginners course in order to issue a membership card, so being a member of the archery federation means that that person knows the basics.
The sale of crossbows and bolts will require a weapons license issued by the police."

Brian
There are now 3 committed Archers that I know of in Camposol and we are getting together. One of us has a large underbuild and there will probably be an indoor range set up in the next few months in that. :)
With enough of us we should be able to sort out some land to shoot on.
Do you have any idea what sort of bow you would like and what kind of Archery you might prefer?
are you a right or left handed Archer?
You should be careful that you don't buy a bow that has too heavy a draw weight to start. That is a common beginner error
Stay in touch. I'll send you a private message with my contact details.
