Afternoon All

I am retiring from work in December and at the moment plan to retire to Spain. We currently have a property in Cabo Roig, but are in the process of selling that and moving to Camposol. As soon as the 14 days self-isolating period is removed on returning to the UK we will be over to sort things out and spend some time in Camposol.

I know Brexit could well change things, but as it stands what do you have to do medically wise? How do you go about registering with a doctor over there and what about current prescriptions (my wife takes quite a lot of medication)? Do your medical files have to be transferred from England?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Just on a separate note, I will need something to occupy my time in retirement (after the wife's list is completed lol), is there anywhere you can play snooker/pool and is there any bowls clubs locally, I quite fancy taking that up!

Many thanks

Alan & Sharon

From January 2021 it will be compulsory for all new Residents to have  private health care insurance in place before they can take up residence in Spain this includes OAPs from the UK...the UK government will no longer pay for your medical needs outside the UK...this information is freely available online.

Could you tell me where this is on line please. It sounds as though it would affect me. Thankyou.

Brits who are now legally resident in Spain will continue to have the same healthcare rights they now have. That is included in the Brexit withdrawal agreement.

Thanks for pointing this out, it looks like the S1 from is the way to go then.

For those permanently living in Camposol now, do you have to pay towards your prescriptions and is it easy enough to register at a local doctor/medical centre. We already have NIE numbers.

Just a prompt from my original post, apart from bars is there anywhere to play snooker/pool and are there any local bowls clubs?

Many thanks

"capped at 10€ per month" depending on your income level (they get info from your tax return).
