Get your S1 from DWP you need this for residencia ...in Murcia you pay 10% of cost of prescription meds but capped at 10€ per month

The S1 that OAPs use is only applicable if you are already a Resident of Spain before January 2021 and  the UK government will continue to pay for your health care after January 2021...if you apply to become a resident of Spain after January 2021 the UK government will no longer pay for your health care outside the UK you will need private health insurance this includes OAPs this is in the Brexit withdrawal agreement.

Does your December date coincide with your State retirement age?

If so, you will need to apply for your S1 and obtain (or possibly start the process) residency, before 31st December, in order to avail yourself of the rights guaranteed by the Brexit withdrawal agreement. In addition to health and residences, you will need to think about exchange if driving licence. As things stand, if you do not apply for the exchange before 31st December, you will need to take the Spanish theory and practical (in Spanish), so lots to do in a short space of time. I doubt you will be able to do it all on your own. It would be worth discussing this all with a gestor as soon as possible. There is a lady here on Camposol, Debbie Shaw, who specialises in helping people through the quagmire. Good luck.

Sorry, I don’t know the answer to the snooker/bowls question, but there are several petanca groups and many other social groups.

Thanks for your reply

I am already drawing my state pension, my wife does not get hers until January. We intend to come over very soon, seems like there is a lot to sort out in a short space of time.

Brits who are now legally resident in Spain will continue to have the same healthcare rights they now have. That is included in the Brexit withdrawal agreement.

We do not have an agreement in place. So no one knows quite what will happen. We will have to fulfill the criteria required for non EU personnel.  Could be very expensive. Especially if Boris carries out his no deal brexit .

AFAIK, the protection of rights for those who are legal residents before 31st December 2020, are covered in the Withdrawal Agreement, (WA), which led to the departure of the UK from the EU on 31st January 2020. These rights include continued healthcare for those who have that care via S1. And rights to continue receiving state pensions for those already in receipt and those who are legal residents, when they reach retirement age. This has been confirmed on the UK.Gov website and by the UK Ambassador to Spain in a webcast.  The Trade deal, which is still under negotiation, does not affect the rights gained in the Withdrawal Agreement, even if no Trade Deal is agreed. If you need further info about this, you may like to consider joining the Brits in Spain group, which is very informative. In addition CAB Spain is an excellent group to join.
Good luck 👍
