Hello Everyone, like many In the UK, I'm now bored of the "work till you drop" concept & am looking to recover some sort of work life balance! so we are looking at the options of moving to Spain but need to understand the connectivity options available around Camposol.

Other questions to follow I'm sure but it is 2018!

I'm an IT professional two years away from my saga subscription & blessed with two healthy but expensive grown up children. My long suffering wife has enjoyed her Saga magazine for a few years now & is looking for somewhere warmer than the 2 weeks summer on offer here in Kent.

The UK (well some parts) has great connection speeds that enables me to work from home.So I'd like to get an idea of realistic connection speeds & costs to ensure I'm not left crying about unwelcome dial up nostalgia or financial ruin!

I've been watching various vlogs about Camposol over the last few weeks but nobody has gone into detail about internet speeds & costs.

Apologies all, if there is a topic already that I've not yet seen but  thought I'd say hello & ask.

Anther thread here...........

Using Skype in Camposol

The main thing that affects your internet speeds on Camposol is the weather.

As far as I know all the internet access on Camposol is wireless mainly supplied by  Compusurf & Wimax.

The small unit on your roof ( about the size of a saucer ) points to the masts on the Commercial Center on A or B to get the wireless signal.

Unlike the UK where most internet access is via cable.

Telitec has just re cabled all the streets on Sector A, B & C but I presume these cables then connect to a mast & receive a wireless signal ??

I am not an expert so somebody else may be along to correct this info

Hello & welcome to the forum. As the previous poster stated most people have WiFi from the receiver on the roof but Telitec are now offering fibre optic. I think the speed you end up with can depend on which sector you live on as there are often people complaining about lack of signal while other folks is fine. I think you’d be paying about 50€ a month for the fibre optic which would I think include tv as a lot of people watch tv via WiFi here. On the whole you would be able to run your business 😊

I would be interested to hear their response.......

And also why they are advertising their service as fibre OPTIC when it is fibre cable.

I went into the Telitec office today and had a chat with them. /its pure fiber, no wireless involved. Its exectly the same as what we have in the UK known as FTTP (Fiber To The Premises) so it is very much fiber optic.

Hi,

am interested to find out if you did get your FTTP from Telitec?
Have been using the wireless services ( first compusurv, lately wimax) for years but can only get marginal download speeds (10 Mbps max) for HD tv streaming (in good conditions). Have applied with Telitec for their 300 Mbps service but they seem to have some sort of legal o.a. battle going on with another provider and therefore I cannot a commitment on installation date.

If not Telitec, any other provider that can deliver higher download speeds?

We live on Csol A.

New provider on Camposol appears to be Telecable.

And however they promote their product it is NOT fibre optic to the premises.

Can't be fibre optic because the cable that they laid to each property earlier this year is similar to co ax cable.Definitely NOT fibre optic.

They are based next to the Vista Bar actually in the old Telmicro office.

I wonder if that's who the legal 'battle' is with ???
