Thank you for letting me join the forum. Me and my husband are looking to  take early retirement in 2021 and have begun the search for somewhere to settle in Spain, so this forum will be really useful to us.  Any hints/tips and advise will be gratefully received.

Hi Lynn, welcome both of you. There will be lots for you to think about, where to buy, what and how big to buy. I'm sure you will enjoy browsing around this region of Spain and make lots of new friends.

Think it would be worthwhile taking the time for a visit even if just for a weekend to try and get a feel for the place in general. Mercers, and I am sure other estate agents, offer weekend trips to view properties and will do all the running around for you. this is how we approached our purchase and actually bought on the weekend of our visit...!!

Obviously things may change in terms of Brexit, or not, but in general my feeling has always been that whatever happens, retiring in Spain or simply owning a holiday home for a few years could never be seen as a mistake

Thanks, We have booked to come out at the end of June to have a  look around Camposol and the areas near to murcia Airport as it will be easy for us to fly in and out of from Bournemouth Airport which isn’t too far away from where we live in the UK. I’m hoping our plans/dream don’t  get affected by Brexit, for the time being we are staying optimistic until we know more.

Brexit is what it is. We have been longing to have our dream life in the sun for 22 years. Whatever happens, we'll find a way to make it work. Good luck when you come over, and hope you find what you're looking for!

Personally, I would not worry to much about Brexit and we took the plunge 3 years ago knowing this was on the horizon. Yes, some things may change but Spain without Brits is virtually unthinkable and if you get the Murcia newsletter and read how much we spend per week then this area would be lost without us. so, I would expect some change but nothing too radical and certainly nothing that should change your thinking of a more relaxing life in the sun.

June is a really pleasant time of the year so I am sure you will enjoy your trip

We are on Condado de Alhama, 20-25 mins from Corvera Airport. It's a golf resort with a Jack Nicholas Signature golf course and about 24 pools. If you or your other half like a round of golf and fab views, it might be worth having a look.

If golf is your thing then there is also an 18 hole course on sector C with a really nice club house that serves food and provides evening entertainment as well. This is situated next to the recently bought hotel that is currently being refurbished so the general feeling is that will also add to the value of properties on camposol over the coming years

Most bars/restaurants on B have their own teams that seem to regularly play in competitions on various courses in the area  if you are interested. Just to say that there are also spa facilities at the golf course that can be utilised while the husband plays and then meet up after for a drink....!!

I’m not into golf, hubby used to be and I’m sure once he retires he’ll want to take it up again although I’m not  sure I fancy being a golf widow.  We will certainly have a look at the area though . Thanks
