Hi I’m looking to move to Camposol, with my aunt, she is moving permanently, but I’ll be there eight months , I am 52 and still want to work, even if it’s just three days a week , I love the sun and to relax but I still like to keep busy . Would there still be a chance to get work at my age ,I know there’s a new Tesco I’ve delivered for them in Britain .Im hoping to have at least ,learned a good bit of Spanish before I move over , any advice would be mostly appreciated thank you

I think you should check on if your UK licence will be able to transfer to a Spanish one if they sort out the current mess. You will have to become tax resident with all that entails after 183 days here (as will your aunt - hope she realises!) and you would need a working visa rather than one for retirees. Suggest a lot of research is needed before you make the plunge.

Yeah I can change my class D license and CPC, same with my truck license and CPC ,but yeah I think it will be much easier when I’ve lived in Spain a year ,but I can only move for eight months the first year then  the year after I can move permanently, I do want to semi retire but , I love the sun but I know myself I still like the opportunity even three days a week just to do something, even if it was just to do barbering or something, as they say that’s my plan but who knows ?

I am no expert but I don't think you can now exchange your UK licence for a Spanish one. You could if you registered your intention to do so before Dec 30th 2020. This is what I found on another website "If you did not register with DGT before December 30th 2020 and want to exchange your UK driving licence, you should follow the DGT process for non-EU nationals. This includes taking a driving test. “The UK government is in discussion with the Spanish government on future driving licence exchange without the need for a practical test. Your valid UK licence will continue to be recognised in Spain until June 30th 2021".

And unless you are an EU citizen you cannot stay in Spain for more than 90 days.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

Thanks very I had looked into it a bit , saying something like E41 Eu licence or something but I was thinking if I’m hoping to become a Spanish citizen, then I did think they might ask me to sit a test , hopefully when I’m over full time it will be easier to find out more , but thank you so much that has helped , when your searching for information online , it’s hard to work out, . don’t know how it goes with a Class D license, Id still like to work doing something, I do  think as months go past I’ll will get bored .

In addition to the other responses - you will need to get a working visa to be able to stay for more than 90 days. To do so, as part of many conditions, you need your employer to provide evidence of a definite job (and in some cases a reason why they intend to employ a foreign national instead of a native Spaniard).

I admire your work ethic and enthusiasm, however, you will find there is quite a lot of red tape to complete..

You can't become a Spanish citizen unless you have been a permanent resident in Spain for 10 years, unless you have Spanish parentage or come from one of the South American countries, with whom Spain has reciprocal agreements. Once you are legally able to apply for Spanish citizenship, you would have to pass a Spanish culture exam and a language exam. If you are a UK citizen, just to be able to apply for a Non Lucrative Visa, you'll need to jump through a lot of hoops and prove that you have an income of 26,000€ per annum, plus private health insurance and a few other things, but you cannot work with an NLV. To be able to get a job, you would have to have been offered a job by someone who would need to prove that nobody else but you, could do that job. The days of Brits moving to Spain and easily finding a job are long gone now that Brexit has happened!

Well that’s certainly gave me a lot more to think about , I was hoping to finally fully retire when I got to 60 , my aunt is retiring but she is on her own so I said look , I’ll come over and stay as long as I can and between me and her boys , she’ll have company but I can’t sit still , But a lot of hoops to jump through for three days a week , thank you very much given me a lot to think about , it’s certainly given me a lot to study , self employed, a business, or look at full time work ,I even thought I could find an old caballeros barber , and if they’re was a spare chair ,I could register myself as self employed. And hopefully start from there , again I do appreciate all the information thank you

Worth checking that your aunt understands all the rules. Thanks to a minority of British voters it is no longer possible to just turn up. Re your own situation don’t forget you will need private health insurance with an approved policy, a police check, and a certificate from your doctor stating that you are healthy. As a visitor you would  be able to spend a maximum of 90 days in 180 in Spain.
