Hi All

Can anybody recommend from experience hire company to use at Corvera ?

We’ve read posts warning about one or two companies but hoping that from someone else’s experience we can get some recommendations of which companies to use

If anyone can recommend any companies at corvera ?

Also whether you took out additional insurance cover and arrangements for fuel

Some of the companies have full to full but have read about issues when dropping hire car off at the airport having driven from camposol , hire company charging for fuel and additional cost to fill the car up

Thanks

Hi,

I have used most of the Car Hire companies at Corvera or San Javier. My first recommendation would be to avoid Goldcar like the plague - they are cheats and liars and you will probably have some kind of hassle with them. They charged me 200 euros for an almost invisible scratch on a car that was full of scuffs etc when I picked it up in the dark. Do a web search and see hundreds of stories about what a scam outfit they are - InterRent and Rhodium are sister companies so avoid them too.

No need to buy any extra insurance from a hire company. Buy the extra insurance from Questor or Insurance4CarHire before you leave the UK (annual policy for about £40) and then you only need to pay the hire company the basic hire package price.

I've now settled on using Centauro every time I hire a car. They are efficient, the cars are good, they have lots of shuttle buses from the airport so you don't need to hang about long for one and the trip is only five minutes. They can be a bit more expensive than Goldcar etc but it's well worth the extra few euros to know you are dealing with honest people.

Hope this helps and if I've missed anything please ask.

I used Centauro  and I am very happy with the car and the service. I rented the car at Corvera and returned it at Alicante airport. I would recommend Centauro.

Hi, it’s a bit of a minefield with car hire and it’s difficult not to get stung by them so you have to watch your back. I too have started using Cantauro and so far have found them fine the same as Kevin 329, I have taken out annual insurance and although they offer you theirs and advise you to take it you are not subjected to a hard sell. Another point is they are based off the airport so do not add airport tax on any extra’s. I used firefly once and was still subjected to an unbelievable hard sell for extra insurance and then also ended up with quite a large bill for airport tax      on top of my bill due to requesting an extra driver at the airport.

When you use Centauro where do you fill up on petrol? Is there a petrol station near the Centauro depot?

Last time we used Europcar and filled up at a station just beyond the airport but I believe the Centauro depot where you'd drop the car back is before you get to the airport?

We use Flamenca or AH rentals both include full insurance and you dont give your credit card. They are dearer than the rest but nothing hidden and you wont get ripped off.
