We are moving to Camposol within the next 2 months and will be bringing our car with us.

It is a left hand drive Peugeot 308 with full European spec. (lights, dash etc).

Does anyone know what we need to bring with us to get Spanish plates?

Hi Ronnie,

If the car is already a full European spec, you should have few problems. You'll need to have the Certificate of Conformity from Peugeot. You can get that here when you go for the initial inspection, but it will usually cost you more that way, so if you can get one before you come it will probably save you a few Euros. You should be able to get it directly from Peugeot - try their website first. If you go to a Peugeot dealer they'll probably charge you more for an admin fee.

When you get here, you'll need to go to an ITV station for the first inspection. The new station in Mazarrón will do it, and they do speak a little English there.Take the original paperwork - V5, CoC and UK MOT if you have it - as well as the NIE/residency/passport for the registered owner.

Once you have the paperwork from the inspection (usually takes a couple of days with an import) you can either do all the paperwork yourself, or pay a gestoría to do it for you. To be honest, with the Traffic Office restrictions because of COVID, it's probably not worth the hassle to do it yourself. Gestoría Zamora in Mazarrón town (near the park behind the Costa hotel) will do it for a very reasonable fee. You just need to give them all the paperwork, and usually within 10-14 days they'll have the new plates and paperwork all prepared for you.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
