My post was just for general info for the amount for a typical month's expenditure for standard bills etc.  We will hopefully retiring and want to ensure our pensions will cover that.

We are still in the process of looking into our finances and will hopefully not be looking at getting jobs in Spain and any info from people in who were in a similar position would be gratefully received.

I beg to differ on the rates of pay that have been suggested

The official government figures for 2018 are £7.83 p.h. x 40 = £313.20 pw x52 = £16286.40 per year.before tax and insurance

obviously a skilled person such as a plumber would earn more.

However as Sharon said they require a typical monthly expenditure for living hear, and I consider a statement that they would need 1500 Euro a month a little extreme and could be off putting for a prospective buyer.

Example of 2 bed apartment in La Ribera.

Electricity 25 per month

Water 22 per month

Internet and telephone 34 per month

Butano (bottle gas) for hot water and cooking  full size cooker oven hob and grill  8.50 per month.

Community fee 30 per month

If you were renting there are apartments for about 300 per month plus bills.

Obviously food and household items would vary to taste also things like internet this is free in the local library (not one on Camposol)

All I can say is I have lived here for many years and have no regrets about leaving the UK in fact I went back to stay with a friend for a few months and found things very expensive.

I also had to visit my doctor (not private) and had an appointment the next day which I understand is hardly possible in the UK.

Sharon I suggest you go for it if only to try renting for 6 months

Kind regards

Ed

€1,500pm =€315 PW = ( £276 )  for food and clothing for 2 people ...is a extremely low figure ...if you try to live on less you would be living in poverty ..your food bill for the week is going to be basically the same as the UK /running a car is basically the same /gas & electric/water use is basically the same.. the only thing that is cheaper is IBI   (council tax) but the extortionet electric / water meter standing charges make up for that ...if you do not allow your self some pocket money for socializing and the likes you will soon pack your bags and move back to the UK.I am not trying to put anyone off but you have to get real.

We don't have a library with free internet.. but if you are strapped for cash you can get free internet in the the community center/Business centre/Golf club... and all. The bars and restaurant's on Camposol...or for €19 pm you can have your own unlimited net .

4 courses of what ..for €9 I think you are referring to a poor quality menu of the day ....Camposol is no more expensive than any other place ..(.I have been in Spain for 11 year's)....in any pub back in the UK you can get 2 good main meals for £10.coffee/tea is £1 per cup.

2 good main meals for £10 n coffee/tea for £1 is unheard of. May be you were referring to McDxxxx ??? That sounds like junk food prices. There isn't much of that in general in Spain. Interesting to hear different views......

I am an outsider, looking in. I can confirm that you really can get a lovely 4 course meal with wine and coffe included for 10 euros in Mazarron. Exceptional value for money.

I have had many a (menu of the day) myself... its good value at €10 ... but can be poor quality as well ....the pint of beer in on the price is consistent and  always goes down well .

Think this discussion is veering off the path.

It was about living costs, not prices for a 3 course meal

It's about living ...and in my books that means enjoying yourself ....who on earth wants just to survive.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

£16110 is the take home on £9

Theres no such a thing as living wage

Why even quote uk wages

People here want to know how far there pension would go  not wages .. your not helping any one ..

Most of your posts are negative ..

You still havent itemised how you get a figure of 1500 mnth

Most people that live or looking to live in   camposol 24/7 are retired

Bin men . stacking shelves .. what the hell has that got to with it..

I dont need a calculator . But then thats why your a plumber
