For some people it's just a lot easier to complain and let somebody else solve the problem. People seem to have enough money to buy a holiday home, they have enough money to go out and have dinner & drinks. But then they don't have the money to look after their property and their safety. Go f...

Alot of people live here full time on pensions. Times are hard globally with increases in fuel electricity food etc.

We do what we can do with roof top watchs, night time walk abouts, dawn to dusk lights, one key anti snap locks, security systems, window locks etc. We are a community and look after each other. If someone has a problem there is always a neighbour or friend that comes to help on Camposol

No point in moaning about it, but refusing to pay for security.  You do what you must  to protect your property.

The walkabouts, night watches etc are great ideas, but it's not stopping the problem is it.

Ideally we need the police around, but it's spain & camposol, it isn't going to happen for a very long time. Yes times are hard for everyone at present that makes us even more of a target. As these horrible people will steal even more now, to fund there life styles.

I understand everyone's input, but we need to catch these idiot's asap.

Thank you to everyone that does there bit.

The restaurants and bars at Camposol are full with full time residents of Camposol (on pensions or not). Times obviously aren't that hard. It's all about priorities. I really applaud all the efforts residents put into keeping the neighborhood safe. Unfortunately that hasn't stopped the burglaries on sector D though.

And yes, it's very good to secure your property with quality locks, an alarm, sufficient lighting, etc. That's part of taking responsibility for your safety. I know and have seen there's a great community spirit on Camposol. There are 1000's of properties on Camposol, with 1000's of different owners and matching different opinions. So when money is involved it's always difficult to get something done.

I think the bars are fuller due to holiday home owners and holiday makers presently.

A few months ago bars were very very quiet. Times are hard for those that have residencia and no income other than a pension.

You can try and get a paid security group together but it has been tried and not every one will pay towards it.

When I hired cars many years ago one of the first things I always did was to removed the car hire company sticker from the back window.

First thing I do before I drive out of the compound is load the cases and get the sticker off.

We have adopted this practice from back in the early nineties when we would hire cars in Orlando, and there was a phase of hire cars being hijacked. We get the top insurance when we hire from Record so it makes no difference if there is a sticker missing. Or a wheel or door come to that 😂

Yes I'm up for chipping in . And also helping out in any way to catch or stop these low life's.  I can't get residentia  at mo but I am on sect a whenever I can be . The spanish goverment have made it worse by restricting people's movements , I know some would say our own thought ,  no not exactly,  because property's  should be protected. And of course people ,because one day there will be physical  contact and an innocent person could suffer. There are squatters 4 doors from me on a,my friend in the port has 3 flats squated bellow him .and they have managed to tap in to someone's electric . He pays 1k a year to maintenance,  nothing can be done to evict  them . Like so many on camposol, I've worked so hard to achieve owning a dream and paid 1000s.  The longer this goes on the more nice people will leave . If I'm in camposol for the 6 months per year , I'd help and dedicate some time to join a patrol , or pay for one .because its ok bolting your house up ? But I worry for people maybe on there own , and maybe can't affored to chip in. I would love to get my hands on them , but of course it has to be legal. ? I guess? I will be spain in 2/3 weeks time , maybe like minded people could have a meeting at some point .?

There is a security group you can subscribe to for a monthly fee that will install an alarm system to your property.

A paid security company patrolling the area fell on deaf ears and for it to work would need every owner to pay a monthly subscription. Believe me various options have been looked into over the years.

The best we can hope is for permanent police presence here.

There are various free WhatsApp security groups depending on your sector that advise of any issues organise patrols and visit victims to offer help and support.

Hi Eleri

Luckily you didn't get burgled yourself. I'm sure the burglers are driving about the sectors looking at houses and making notes to check them out.

It's awful when you actually get burgled like we did last September. We'd only been here just over 3 months and went away for 2 nights. We thought we were secure with full time neighbours at side of us and at the back of us. But they ripped a grill off the back bedroom window. Since then we have had extra grills fitted to the windows and the decorative grills secured back on properly so are now double grilled. We pay to a company for a burgler alarm also now. And still sometimes you wonder are they going to come back and try again. Our credit cards were not taken or laptop and camera etc just money and jewelry. But it's the damage they do and it caused my husband a lot of stress and is constantly worried if everything will be OK if we go away.

Our next door neighbour also got burgled recently. They rang our bell at 10pm to say they had gone out for a couple of hours and came back at 9.30pm to find the front window grill ripped off and smashed the window to get in. They also had a dog inside the house which they presume had been sprayed with something. We didn't hear a thing which is really annoying as we had sat in our conservatory until 8.30pm then locked up and went inside to watch TV.

Someone out there knows who they are. We all keep saying one day they will get caught but it's been ongoing now for a while and they are still at it. It's all right having the patrols but we do need police presence and we would pay into the scheme but a lot of people won't pay and it needs something doing to help this situation. Maybe people don't want police presence because a lot of them are out drinking in the bars then get into their cars and drive home after having one too many. They think they only have to go down the road and round a few roundabouts and noone is there to stop them drink driving. Lynn

As no one seems to have mentioned it (or I’ve missed it) :

Have you all signed the petition to get a police presence in Camposol?

If not, I suggest you do that ASAP. You can do it at the office opposite The Diner.
