Are there any potential issues with me bringing my 1972 VW Campervan to Spain permanently.
It's right hand drive,but I don't see that being much of an issue for me.
I'm primarily interested in the legal aspects and finding a reliable mechanic to carry out ongoing maintenance.

Try Decklid autos in Mazarron, he is an avid VW mechanic and VW collector I can guarantee he will look after you
Get it registered as over 25 years old and you won't have to pay road tax.
That's a thing in Spain?

It's exempt form road tax here in the UK.
I assume I'd still have to pay the vehicle import duty?
Yes you would plus a few other taxes they have invented and you pay for your ITV and number plates and of course you will have to get a new set of headlights.

Hi, my partner and I are visiting Camposol this April with a view to buying a property in the near future. It's the expats angle that is convincing us that Camposol is the place for us. We have read much about the area on this forum, but I'm puzzled as to why we would need to change the headlights on our car if we brought it over permanently.

You need left hand drive headlights or they will fail it.

Ahh, silly me. Many thanks. I honestly didn't know there were right hand drive and left hand drive headlights.

Don't think you can get away with the stick on beam benders things.
They are not acceptable if you are re registering the vehicle.
