We viewed numerous properties with various estate agents all over the Costa Callida, all of which were very helpful.  We ended up buying via Mercers who were fantastic and very helpful with all kinds of questions, knowledge was great and didn't hide anything from us.

I like the old saying 'if it seems too good to be true....it usually is!! ' Theres always a reason for properties being cheap.....

well I thought that and was very very sceptical ,I wanted to look in alicante area we read a lot on the web but decided to look ourselves as if you what everyone else does without looking into yourself  you can not make an informed decision. but we came and liked ,there is a lovely community here and has sprouted up we have first response unit called fast.we have forgetmenot service for people who have dementia ,we have age concern,,mabs for people with cancer and receipt care ,greenfingers who keep the area tidy  and in flowers, all this has build up around brits and other cultures that look out for each other, there is even a web site for the community and the first few days here my boiler went ,i had no spanish, wondered what will we do,neighbour told us to ask for help on the forum and within 3 hours we had a fela at the door weekend mind and new boiler in and replaced ,I for one Im glad we found this place as if in trouble you can find help if needed on the down side it can be clicky and everyone knows everyone  which in some ways is not a bad thing, you have every thing  on site pharmacy, shops, bar, restaurants, gym you name it ,its here

I'm a holiday home owner for 10years with stays of up to 3months.It is generally a nice community with again generally nice neighbours .My advice would be to spend some time renting to get a feel of things before purchasing a house .There are things here I don't agree with ,I'm not whinging ,but ...

...the main one being the complete intrangicence of a Council that takes its taxes from our estate and won't give us services we require in return.a Council that hasn't payed the police its overtime gives you a clue of how we fare.

Take your timewhen buying a property and where, do your research and talk to expats .Some including the estate agent will tell you want to hear like Q .are there many flies in summer A .no they sleep during the day.A lot of Bs talked by these sellers .When you have found somewhere take into account (Spain can be very cold in winter and the houses are single walled and very cold )could cost a fortune to heat a few days visit in January will show you how cold it can be .Everyone is different how they live and how much money they have ,plus no one knows about the effects of Brexit yet my view is,I saw how expats suffered with there health problems in 1970/80s in Spain before they joined the Eu so personally I'd wait till that's negotiated just in case .There are private hospitals here but could wipe you out financially ,if there is no agreement in the brexit discussions (check this on the Internet)put simply it's not like the Nhs .here if you arnt a resident. If you come here as a non resident you are at the moment entitled to free Ehic emergency cover so check your health requirements as it's important .having said that the Health services here in Spain are very good as many will testify here .again my advice would be check it all out before you commit and if you can ,don't burn your bridges as a lot of people for various reasons have left Camposol ,but a lot can't because they can't afford too go back to the Uk .hope this helps and apologies  to residents both non and permanent for sounding negative it's a good place to live but the one word that covers all eventualities that's needed is money .Feel free to ask any questions.

Hi Ivor, Myself and my wife are thinking of moving to camposol as, we should be able to buy a property within our budget. My only concern is being able to maintain a reasonable life style on our budget. In your opinion, do you think we could get by on £ 1300. 00 a month.

thats more than enough unless you have a lavish lifestyle.....don't forget even if its pensions you will pay tax and the amount fluctuates with the exchange rate....there are some hidden start up costs so you'll need a contingency fund!

That will be £1300 after a bit going into savings and  Uk tax. So I was budgeting For spain £1300. Is it right that I only pay tax on my pension in the uk and won't get taxed again by the spanish tax man.

Thanks

Andre
