There was a long thread going back last year but it’s locked now so just after some input if possible.

Looking to move over permanently near the end of this year.

Have a villa all paid for and me and the wife are both 51.

We have an income of around £600 per month.

I realise that is low but we will be looking to earn an income as quick as possible.

Looking at the info it seems we need to have €800 per person per month to apply for residencia. So well short of that. Does this mean we can’t apply then for residencia as I can’t see us being able to guarantee those amounts for any time soon.

Im not sure, But you need to get advice from some one who knows,

I do know if you are autonamo or on a contract out here it is easier. We went through the process and had  done all that was asked and they still chucked a curve ball at us.

There is load of info regarding the process on the costa blanca site, look up jims guides

The figures quoted 800€ per month approx are what is required now while we are still in the EU, but remember that Brexit could change that dramatically as from March 30th non EU applicants have to have 4x these figures( approx 32,000€  income/year) and as you want to apply later in the year, presumably after April, you need to research deeper. CAB will offer you this.

Good luck

Pauline.

Rather than worry about whether you have enough income to qualify, think about how much you will need to live. I would suggest it would be a very poor lifestyle on that sort of money, with no chance of a rainy day fund. If you have a decent sum that will be deposited in a Spanish bank that could make a difference.

Remember if you do have a decent sum in a Spanish bank and the the authorities i.e. the Ayuntamiento decide you owe them money they will just put an embargo on your finances and take what they conceder you owe them.

A few years ago I had just over 3000 Euro disappear from my main Spanish bank and that was for unpaid taxes or so they said on a car and property I sold in Vera.

I obviously noted straight away and questioned it with prove of payment, The person that bought the car had agreed to pay the tax and had but they thought they would try it on and get it again.

The property tax was a "mistake" on there behalf because the property was in a different region they were unaware it had been paid.

I now try to keep what I have in Spanish accounts to a minimum.

Just beware

Paulsav does not have his facts correct. Nothing has yet been decided because no EU country has ever left the EU, Keep in touch with the CAB.es for the latest...if the UK leaves the EU....or if there is a transition period...or is the moon is made of green cheese!

My facts are correct with a worst case scenario, I was trying to point out more research for them were necessary and I recommended they did more research using CAB.  Of course no-one knows yet but if they were to want residency maybe better to act sooner than later. BTW, I,m female not a "his" hence my always signing name as fed up of people calling me Paul.

So just a bit more info, we shouldn’t find it too hard to find work, indeed I was offered work last time I was over.

Wife is a premesis manager of a school and is fully qualified in swimming pools. Also many other skills. I’m a maintenance engineer and ex locksmith. Also qualified electrician so should be able to find work pretty quickly

Watch out for your health costs - you are a bit in the young side to slot into the Spanish system and It could be expensive.  If you wish to become resident you will have to provide proof that you have health cover.  If you spend 6 months in uk, you will be covered by the e111.
