Hi I have been coming over to camposol for last three years and desperately would love to live here permanently. I know it is very difficult after s lot of research and talking to people. I have come this time to see a solicitor to actually get the ins and outs of it all to find out it's worse than I thought has anyone recently experienced getting their residenture and if so how difficult did you find it. Any advice helpful. Thanks Sue

Hi,

Assuming you are applying for the Non Lucrative Visa, then the requirements for the Manchester Consulate are:

NON LUCRATIVE VISA

1. Two copies of the National Visa Application Form duly filled in and signed by the applicant.

2. Two recent colour photos with white background, 3.5cm x 4.5cm.

3. Original passport, valid for at least 1 year from submission of application and photocopy of the picture page.

4. Police clearance from countries of residence for the last 5 years (for British citizens and residents: ACRO criminal record certificate). Must be legalized by means of a Hague Apostille Certificate and translated into Spanish *

5. Medical certificate: The applicant must be accredited to not suffer from any diseases that can have serious health consequences in accordance with the provisions of the International Health Regulations 2005”. Must be legalized by means of a Hague Apostille Certificate and translated into Spanish *

6. Medical insurance with an insurance company authorized to operate in Spain valid for at least the first 12 months of stay in Spain.

7. Documents proving sufficient financial means for your living expenses and accommodation (€2,259.60 per month plus €564.90 per each family member). e.g. stamped bank statements, pension etc.

8. Form EX-01 - Non-lucrative Temporary Residence Authorization Application Form.

9. Form 790-052 - Residency fee form.

You now have to apply in the UK. The fee is approx £516 each.

We are going through the process, and just waiting on our last documents to be returned. We started 15th September and have our appointment scheduled for 2nd November.

Its a straight forward process if you can clear all the hurdles and satisfy the Financial Means.

Hope that helps.

Frank

Hi,

Sorry...'eco' form...don't follow you on that.

The Hague thing is where you have to send certain documents off to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to be legalised, and then you have to have them translated by a sworn Translator registered on the Consulate list.

Which Consulate you apply to is determined by where you live. The EX forms and Visa application form can be downloaded from the Consulate web site.

Here is a link to the Manchester Consulate:

Thanks the eco form was the EX sorry that was me. Thankyou. Another question if you don't mind how do they work out the income ie. I can pull a small pension and I will have approx 140 k in the bank and that would be it. Do they work for how long that would last then throw you out... Or is it monitored yearly? Sue

Hi Sue,

You have to prove you will not be a burden to the Spanish state, so you have to cover the IPREM amount of c£25,000. Then for the renewal for the next two years you have to have £50,000 and then the same two years after that.

Apologies, I don’t know your personal circumstances or age but irrespective of the visa do you think your Capital will be sufficient to last?

Not looking for you to answer, but you have to be realistic about how long your Capital will support you.

Regards

Frank
