Looking to get a non lucrative visa in New Year. Also purchasing a property in Spain. Can anyone recommend the best legal firm that will ensure that we get everything done properly as need to be 100% sure that it's not declined. Not sure whether to put a deposit on anything prior due to the NLV application ? Don't want to pay silly money for the legal support either though 🤣

Still in UK obviously

Cheers

Glen

We completed the NLV process in May and we were happy with the solicitor that we used. Her details are as follows:

Raquel Moreno

Manager, Senior Immigration Lawyer|BeGlobal Attorneys

[email protected]

Tel.: +34 93 566 87 76    |    Movil: +34 674 07 21 89

Balmes 201, 08006 Barcelona www.beglobalbcn.com

Please say that Richard Tasker recommended you.

Cost was around £1,000 for her services - which covered everything right through to making the final appointments at the Town Hall and Police station here in Spain.

You need an address in Spain (which can be a rental) to complete the NLV process, so you either need to rent or to have purchased a property.

If you know where you want to buy, then I suggest that you check that you meet all the criteria ('means of maintenance', private healthcare, criminal record check, etc.) and be confident that you will get the NLV, then purchase your property. There is no discretionary decision for the NLV - you either meet the criteria, or you don't, so as long as you are confident that you do, then you should be confident to buy your property. Also please remember that you need to renew the NLV after a year, then after a further 2 years, so you need to ensure that you can meet the criteria each time.

Hope this helps and happy to answer any other questions you may have...

Hi,

I'm just going through the process myself.

You have to have Health cover in place before you go to Spain. As the S1 isn't active until you register it when you are resident in Spain, it won't count. the EHEC won't count either.

We have had to take out Private Health Cover, but will then apply for our S1.

Hope that helps.

Regards

Frank

We are with Sanitas - approx. €1,300 pa for both of us (aged 50 & 48, with no pre-existing conditions). They are part of the BUPA group.

We also got quotes from ASSA and I have seen several people on this forum recommend DKV.

The policy needs to have no 'co-payments' and be paid for in full in advance of your application. It's worth shopping around, as rates can vary massively.

Hi,

I had three or four quotes from different companies....all pretty much around the same price.

But then I was recommended Alfonso at Gran Alicant Insurances. He got me a quote from Salus which covered all the requirements for the Visa application and worked out slightly cheaper (though it's still around £2,00 for two of us). Apart from that , he's a nice polite guy to deal with, and I intend to use him for other insurances once I'm in Spain.

On our way to Spain as I'm writing this.I am a75 year old lady I did all the paperwork myself it was easy just read everything carefully, make sure you have your police clearance doctors letter get your template of the net .health insurance.proof of income.get all documents in place before applying for visa..it really is that easy.dont let anybody tell you differently.we applied for visa it only took a week 2weeks later, here we are sat waiting to board the ferry.good luck.
