Many thanks for your advice frequent flyer.

Our solicitors spoke to the utility companies and they asked for the habitation certificate and thats why they tried the town hall. After listening to yourselves and others we shall be visiting the utility companies ourselves (with a translator) to get connected- fingers crossed!

Thanks again for your useful advice.

You don't have to a fin de obra but it will be required if you decide to resell.  Iberdola (electrical) has a website, as does  the aqualia spain water company .

Just to update all of you nice people that have helped and given advice, that things are looking up with the utilities situation. Apparently we don't need any extra certification. Just the deeds, the NIE numbers, bank details and passports. We received a recommendation for a man, who has helped people in this situation many times before.

We spoke to him on the phone today and he has gone to the utility companies for us and it all looks very promising. It will cost approx 400 Euros for us to have new meters installed and to be connected to water and electricity.

We're trying not to count our chickens before they hatch but it all sounds very promising.

Sorry for everything thats gone on hope there is light at the end of the tunnel for you. We also are thinking of buying on campasol and listening to what you have gone through its giving us knowledge of what to ask for without being fobbed off. Does anyone know of a reputable solicitor that gets the job done correctly would be appreciated.
