Looks like some major changes to the way electricity is charged for in Spain from June 1st 2021.

Although the article on Murcia today is by Nordic Energy the information is relevant to all supplies of electricity in Spain.

Probably only applies to a supply with a Smart Meter though.

Hi Roland

Why do you think this would only affect smart meter owners, surely all meters would be affected?

The different charges at different times of the day could only work if it was a Smart Meter.

Old style meters could only record the total usage.

I,m sorry I, m just not convinced it will only apply to smart meters (which we have) unless it's a ploy to make everyone get one. Otherwise would it not be discrimination to non smart meter users?

We will have to wait & see then, June 1st is not far away.

As you say it would be very discriminatory if it just applied to Smart Meter users.

There is a clicky link on that report that takes you to this PDF.

https://www.cnmc.es/sites/default/files/3445261_11.pdf

14 pages of heavy duty Spanish waffle that even with Google translate is still waffle.

I think I am going to shut up now !!

I have just read the Murcia Today article. The billing time periods explanation makes sense, the rest is just too confusing. Although I generally consider myself fairly intelligent, I have to admit that I don't have a clue what it all means. 🥴🥴🥴

I think this is the universal international standard......to confuse the customer is the mission statement!!
