Hi hope I can get a bit of advise. Need to get water and electricity put on in villa. How long after instructing the company to put it on does it take? Also does anyone know how much connection charge is. Any advise would be great.

Many thanks.

No idea of the cost but knowing Spain & its utilities it could take months rather than weeks.

Loads of form filling & silly coloured rubber stamps............

Hi Hollybella23,

How long did it take for you to get connected in the end? We've just bought a Classico that has never been lived in before now, which didn't have the necessary paperwork you would normally need to connect them. Our solicitor is waiting on the 'Licencia de segunda occupacion' from the town hall so that utilities can be connected. However it seems to be taking AGES! It's been a month already with no change is that normal?

We're very eager to get renovation works started on it.

Hello everyone, we are hoping to move over soon but keep reading posts about how expensive the utilities are.

We think it's just water and electricity don't too much in terms of bills, however some properties are consumption G which I guess means they are not energy efficient.

Any advice please

Hi there,

Electricity is one of the few things that is generally more expensive in Spain than the UK. It really depends on what size house you have and what you are using. Air conditioning and pool pumps tend to push the price up. We have both snd our bill is between €80 and €120 per month depending on season.

Water is again very dependant on what type of property you have and if you have a pool. We live in a Neptuno, so 3 beds and have a pool. Our bill is fairly static at €60 every 2 months and this includes rubbish collection charges (basura). This is less than we were paying in the UK before we left.

If you could identify your house type and what facilities it has, you will get a more accurate answer.

Hope this helps and good luck .

Thank you very much for your reply. It has been very useful.
