I've also been waying up the differences lately too. I'd love bricks n morta as they mostly hold their value, the taxes are cheap, and although my budget is similar to yours you can still find some nice properties.

I've been looking on "caravans in the sun" which have many different sites across Spain. Plenty of cheap vans for every kind of budget BUT then factor in the rents and your looking at 2.5k to 4k a year which although plenty of amenities it's still money down the drain.

The biggest problem I'm hitting is becoming a resident and all the new rules and finances they now want. Hopefully by the time I get to buy they'd have realised how stupid they're being out pricing people who want to retire over in Spain

I'd love to be able to obtain residency too and although it's frustrating that I can't, my anger is directed squarely at those who voted for Brexit, as this isn't the fault of the Spanish authorities.

We owned a park home for three years because that was all we could afford then in 2018 we were lucky enough to buy bricks and mortar. What we liked about the park home was the clubhouse, pool, people around us if we wanted to mix or being able to stay on our own if we preferred. Plus the safety of being on a gated community and everyone speaking English so in the case of an emergency you always had someone around who could help/speak Spanish. What we didn’t like was the cost of the ground rent when we were trying to sell and had to keep paying it even though we weren’t using it, the fact that we were living on someone else’s land, the constant increases in electricity and water which we seemed to have no control over. Looking back it was great to have it as a base and we did have a nice garden which we probably wouldn’t have had with an apartment (with what we could afford then). It enabled us to explore areas of Alicante and Murcia and decide where we wanted to be. We find our house now is much cooler in Summer than our park home and much warmer in Winter and are happy we moved but I think it’s down to personal choice and obviously funds. We are close to Lo Pagan and Santiago de La Ribera which are both great areas and if you look in the estate agent’s windows there you often see nice apartments around 30,000/40,000 euros. Hope this helps. Good luck.

It wasn't the Spanish who made British citizens third-country citizens. For the stupidity, you need to look a little closer to home!
