I made some solar panels with parts from VidaXL and Leroy Merlin that gives us +6C over the air temperature and we have a solar cover that keeps the heat in. Couldn't fit a heat pump as the cabling for the house is too small.

Cabling is not a problem here, we had it changed from 5 tot 9. Was not cheap : 1000 euros. But it's the cost of a heat pump that worries me.
Hi,as a Refrigeration engineer i can confirm the running cost of leaving your heat pump on 24/7 will be quite high and can confirm what frequent flyer has said about switching it off overnight the recovery time to get it back up to temp will be quite long, when we brought our villa on C2 one of our criterion was not to buy a property with a swimming pool due to running cost and also i find a lot of the pools are only a few meters long so a couple of strokes and you reach the other side of the pool which seems a bit pointless so basically just a plunge pool, much better to buy a property with a jacuzzi already in it.Also due to the high heat load compressors dont tend to last that long as they are constantly running.sorry if this sounds a bit negative just my two pennies worth.cheers

We have a pool cover. Which has increased temperature from 18C to 28C.and can get pool even warmer.it also reduces water evaporation. It means we swim from April to October.
Hi, please can you tell me the type of pool cover you use?

It's bubble wrap style on a roller. It was about €750 but well worth it. The pool never got above 20c but with it it was up to min 28c .

Thank you, we have just moved to a property near Lorca and the pool is covered but with a strong blue cover that lies over arches to keep it off the water and is screwed down to the ground all the way around. We were told that it wouldn’t be warm enough to swim in until May to September. I was hoping to swim more months in the year.
