We are about to transfer the cash from pounds to euros for a house purchase and are really stressed about which exchange company to trust with such a large amount, yet have a decent rate now with the recent fall.

Would appreciate thoughts on our problem

I have used WISE for many years very transparent about the rate and fees they charge, quick and efficiant service

Hi, we are in the process of doing this for the second time.  Wise are definitely the best and I would transfer batches of smaller amounts rather than in one go, for peace of mind.  Set the funds to auto transfer when the rate hits a particular amount.  I found that it often hit the high 1.20's overnight (I was transferring from the UK). I think I got most of mine transferred at 1.209.  The fees are dependant on amounts, so there is next to no difference if you transfer small amounts or one big hit.  Set a few auto transfers up at different rates - they are easy to cancel if you need to. I believe we saved about €2000 using the auto transfer and achieving that overnight rate. Hope this helps.

Sensible thing to do move several smaller amounts.

But you are not going to see anywhere near 1.20 for the foreseeable future I am afraid.

Yes, we were fortunate we did this about 4 weeks ago.  The sentiment still stands, though, although I'm not sure what rate I'd set my autos too at the moment!

We used Simon at A Place In the Sun Currency....took several quotes and we saved thousands on the house exchange transfer..

Shop around, especially if larger amount.
