I wonder if any of you good people can help.

My husband has Specsavers own brand hearing aids bought in the UK. One is not working. It will have to be sent to the UK for repair unless any forum member knows of a company in Murcia who can repair it. Our nearest audiology centre (Caravaca) cannot help because it is a UK brand.

There is a Specsavers over the border in Torrevieja but they only deal with glasses.

Thanks Eraser. Specsavers in Spain only do glasses, they don't have an audiology department. I'm surprised they don't as so many British people here are older, one would think there would be a demand. I guess Specsavers would then need the full backup of repair facilities in Spain too which may be uneconomical for them.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my aids which were bought in Boots Ireland. Both aids went on the blink within a week if each other. If you ring Specsavers they will be able to tell you if their brands have an outlet here. Mine did (my brand is Phonak and Boots are agents for that brand). However, when I explained that I wasn't happy to post them back to Ireland as they asked, (I was afraid they'd get lost and they are too expensive to replace as I can't insure them),  they suggested that they would send me the disk that contains a number of new receivers and that I should try that option first as it might not be necessary to go to the Phonak outlet which was in Murcia I believe. They also sent a You Tube link that shows you exactly what to do. It's very easy, definitely worth a try. It worked very well for me and I wish you the best of luck with it.

Ann, thank you so much for your reply. I wasn't sure what you meant by the disk so had a look on YouTube. I think you are referring to the Cerushield wax filters. Specsavers aids use Cerustop which are similar but without the disk. They are changed regularly. The problem seems to be with the aid itself but it is intermittent - at the moment it is working again! Unfortunately, it seems that Specsavers hearing aids can only be repaired by sending them back to the UK, we have done this before but I just wondered if anyone had found another way. Thanks again for your reply.

I'm pleased to hear they are working again for you. It's always a concern when they fail and you're not at home. I'll let you know if I hear of anything more useful.

Yes, that's the same name my replacement wax guards came in. It's a round disk thing that is used to remove old guards & insert new ones. As it happens one of mine failed a week ago and that remedy didn't work so I'm a "one eared Reilly" at the moment & worse, it's my bad ear!  Such is life. I hope they continue working but while they're great when they work, they tend to fail frequently in my experience. Sorry I can't be more helpful
