Anyone know where we need to go to actually get a copy of our annual council tax bill (we have a house in Blanca)? We got caught out last year (and fined for late payment) because we didn't receive our bill. A copy was allegedly sent to our estate agent but they say they received nothing addressed to us. A copy was sent to our cadastral number but, needless to say, it didn't reach us. Another copy was sent to a random address in another town and we've never worked out why they thought the address was connected to us. We now have a letterbox at our house but nothing has been received this year. Last year's bill was dated September and the last date for payment was 3rd December. I'm coming over this week and need to sort it out because I'm not back again until after early December which will be too late to pay.

Thanks in advance!

As far as i know you will not get an actual bill either paper or email.

This may only apply to the Mazarron area.

I have never received a bill in 15 years.

It is set up to be paid by direct debit every year.

Funny old Spanish systems .

Can’t even work out how to set up a direct debit!! In order to get the bank details for a direct debit, I’d have to have some way of getting hold of them!!

Get the solicitors that dealt with your property purchase to set it up

It should be part of their job

Thanks, but we don't have a solicitor anymore, and the only one that has ever been involved was via the estate agent.

We bought the house in 2016 but council tax didn't kick in until 2018 when the house became habitable, by which time there was no legal involvement.

We literally just need to find out who we ask and how! Once we get the bank details and our individual reference, we can set up the direct debit ourselves.

If you go to the town hall (tax office) - ask for a copy of IBI, go to your bank to pay also ask about setting up automatic payment - they will give you letter with your bank details, which you will have to back to your tax office with.

You could also contact your solicitor if they can get a copy for you.

As Jaz007 says, go to the ayuntamiento in Blanca. Take your escritura for your house and padron (if you have one), and your NIE. Tell them you have to pay your IBI : Tenemos que pagar nuestro IBI (pronounce it eebee) and they should direct you to the right department.

If your house is your home rather than a holiday home, you will need to get a padron.

Good luck.

My solicitors deal with the tax so i don't need to know the fiscal value.

Thanks everyone. Hopefully, the town hall will be able to give me a copy of the bill and I'll go from there with the bank. At least I should be able to pay this year's at the bank.

We used a tax service to do our non-resident's tax last year and we got the fiscal value from our 2018/2019 IBI bill which we did finally get a copy of, though too late to avoid the late fees!
