Hello.  Thinking about buying a holiday home,in the Murcia area.   Have been in touch with many agents ,who have sent me apartments mainly in the La Torre area.      Today one agent asked me if I would be interested in looking at other places, and sent me through a couple of apartments in this area, and on the golf course.    Would just like to now what the ex pats think,  Is the 24hr apartments and maintenance still going ahead, with so many apartments empty,is there much to do here,(I'm not into nightclubs but does everywhere shut  20.00-21,00 sort of thing are the beaches nice, and is there many resturants, bars.     Are there walking and cycling tracks      we have a family friend living nearby  condado ,as says as soon as the restrictions lift,he will have a drive down to a few places for us,and have a look (Hacienda    Altaona  Puerto. Dr Masson ,and is Torre ECT )and have a look.    But I was hoping some of you would take the time out to give me your opinions and experience s.        Thanks

It sounds like you have not visited Murcia or the coast in this area of Spain.

The first thing you need to do when you can I get out to Spain and experience the life style, No part of Spain that I know of shuts at 21:00.

In this part of Spain bars and restaurants often have north Europeans take there dinners first, normally later than in the UK, followed by the Spanish.

Must beaches are good and well looked after.

As soon as you can you need to come yourself and travel around...most of the places you mention are at least 20 minutes drive from the beach and there is nothing within walking distance. If you google with the correct names you will probably get a few youtube vids of each place.

One persons paradise is another persons hell!!!

I would advise you to look at the plus and minus points of moving to Spain well before you start to consider whereabouts.

It is a fact that since Brexit there are many things that would go on the "reasons not to" side, and nothing added to the "reasons to".

I will not list them as you will learn more by serious research on forums, government web pages etc.

Hi, Jonny.

You absolutely,  definitely have to come out a good few times to see for yourself.  It took us 1000's of driving kilometres across Murcia and Andalucía, 2 years and 12 property viewings to find our dream place in Murcia.  There is so much to consider and i could never support buying from internet pictures or just one visit to an area, or by what other people say.  The visits and travelling around are fun anyway! Good luck with your search.

We came out year after year looking until we found Santiago de la Ribera. It's a small town but next to the beach. Do you want the beach, a busy place, expats it's all something you have to decide before you buy. Murcia is great but there's a lot of variation. And as somebody replied- what is paradise for one is hell for another
