Morning all.

Can anybody tell me exactly what the new rules apply to, where can you smoke without breaking the new rule.

And how are they being monitored by the authorities.

Many Thanks.

G.

I am a smoker, I understand I can smoke if nobody is near me i.e. 2 meter.

I posted a link of  Adrians video from Friday and he pointed out the if I would smoke within this diameter and a person comes "towards" me I have to put the cigarette out - so standing with my back to a wall and a police would approch me the rule is broken if he would come closer than 2 meters. OK would a police doing this? There also have a smoking habit...

Some information here from Murcia Today. The smoking bit is towards the bottom:

We are not smokers but know couples where one smokes, the other doesn't. Presumably this means they cannot sit together in public whilst one 'as a fag??

Good morning all.

Thank you for your information, at least now I have some idea as to when I can and can't smoke without either upsetting the law, or the non smokers of the world.

But I must also say that I do intend to pack up and this may be of help in the long run.

If anyone out there has a miracle cure for this I would be grateful if you shared it, but I'm sure all of you are to busy working on trying to find a vaccine for covid 19.

I know exactly how you feel Gary, having smoked for most of my adult life, I did however manage to give it up 10 years ago, along with my other half and on the same day as her.  It took a lot of attempts with set backs over the final couple of years, before I found a way suited to me, not easy but so glad I did now.       I'm not what some people call a 'reformed smoker', they do nothing but preach and pee you off!    In fact, I still love the smell of exhaled tobacco wafting by.

Don't stop because of pressure from non - smokers, stop because you want to.   I'd be more than happy to help you achieve this life changing step.  Let me know if you want a few tips, either on open forum or via private message.  Either way, good luck on your journey.👍

Thanks Zacdog.

I will probably take you up on that offer when I'm ready too, or at least listen to how you did it.

And don't worry I don't concern myself with what non or ex smokers say to me, but I do consider people's feelings and space so try not to irritate them by smoking in thier face so to speak as it can be unpleasant to some.

As the last guy said, only you can decide . It took me 3 years to stop I tried everything including hypnotherapy but obviously I wasn't ready. The patches made my arm swell, the sprays were vile and in the end I ended up with Nicorette Lozengers (full strength) I was on them a long time (2 years) popping them in like gum drops leaving them to melt in the side of my cheek. They did work in the end. That was 10 years ago, however I would still love a ciggie especially after a meal or with a drink. I know that I am an addictive smoker and just 1 would put me back on them so I try not to even think about it. Good luck

You’re going to hate this. Anyway I smoked all my life until 4 years ago. I never thought I’d be able to give it up. Managed during pregnancies thankfully. Stalwart smoker having said all of the above. However it took till age 69 with bad coughing fit which literally made me sick and such shortness of breath I thought I was dying. Got up the next day and never smoked again. I know I lived longer than some before I was shocked into it. You lot will probably do as I did and carry on anyway. But I wish I had given up earlier as my COPD / breathlessness is spoiling my retirement years. All the best.
