Moving soon to Cartagena!!!

Hi Shazza. Bought my villa in El Algar nearly three years ago, and absolutely love it! Will be moving out permanently in about three years, but try to get over as frequently as possible. Love Cartagena and try and get to see a football match there whenever I’m in Spain! It’s a great town, and you’ll love it! Tim

Hi Shazza ,welcome .we moved last October into our finca in CARTAGENA.  We love it .Our property required doing up .Its a slow process but were getting there .We brought our dogs over on the ferry via Portsmouth to Santander ,great experience .I was worried about the dogs but you can stay with them as long as you want in the kennel area.We then drove the rest of the way .We then had our car transferred onto Spanish plates . If I can help at all with any questions I'm happy to do so .Janet

We have booked via Santander also so I’ll be able to see my dogs as often as I want to as well as walk them as you have mentioned. Couldn’t bear the thought of them being stuck in the car during a ferry crossing.

What is the process to change car to spanish plates please? We have looked at it briefly and been told it’s quite costly.

Our finca needs a lot of work also, think the word is ‘reform’!! New roof electrics etc etc but will be worth it in the end. 

Do you see lots of rats about in the campo? I know it’s a bizarre question but I hate them hahaha that’s what you get for buying somewhere in the countryside!

I will probably have loads of questions when I’m out there so thanking you in advance! 😁

I hate them too ,but thankfully not see one on my property yet , seen one on Lidle car park lol .We thought it was quite a reasonable cost to transfer the car as lights registration ITV / mot and legalities  ,cheaper than buying over here .let me know what you decide . I'm flying out on Wednesday for a couple of days to check the villa following the recent storms. Can't wait until I'm there permanently! With regards the car, I am ideally going to buy a LHD, Spanish registered car in the UK and then drive it down. There are some car dealerships in the local area, but I feel that the prices are really steep for what you actually get. Probably high as they have an easy ex-pat market to deal with with... I'm going for a LHD car due to the tolls. Means that I'm on the correct side of the car when it comes to paying! Alternatively I will look on Facebook Marketplace. Hope your move goes well.

We have bought in Tallante region and are moving in 2 weeks with our 11 year old daughter.  Just come back from Spain having got her place at the school and our residencia appointment   Can't wait now...

Maybe once you are both settled we could meet up for coffee.
