Hello everyone I’m a first timer so please be gentle.

I purchased a place last year and still not visited. I’ve recently had a full hip replacement though I’ve only just turned 54 this week.

Anyway I’ve decided I’ve had enough of waiting I need to see what I’ve purchased. I’m booked to come out on July 2cd for 4 weeks with my 19 year old son. We was wondering we know we don’t need tests to arrive in Spain we just travel. But I cannot get a handle on what happens on return to U.K.? Do we take tests in Spain before we leave and is this simple? And then quarantine in our home in U.K. on return?

We are both double jabbed but currently that makes no difference, just need the nuts and bolts of returning to U.K. and how easy it is make it happen in Murcia.

cannot wait to see our place, get out meet some people and eat some Tapas.

Thank You to everyone for any help and Advice.

Hi

As it stands currently you need a pcr or antigen test before returning to the UK. These are relatively inexpensive compared to UK and widely available in Murcia. This has to be done no more than 72hrs before your return to the uk. You also have to fill in a passenger locator form.

Before you return to the uk you must book two pcr tests via the government website, to be taken upon your return to UK. These are for day 2 and day 8 of your return to UK and you must undergo 10 days of quarantine. If you want early release from quarantine there is an extra test you can book and pay for to do on day 5. But you must still pay for and do the day 8 test!.

This could all change again over the next 4 weeks so you need to keep an eye on government websites for the latest info. www.gov.uk has all the upto date info.

Hi that’s great feedback thank you so much. My apartment is in La Tercia so I’m guessing I can get the test we need in Spain close by.

I will wait to book the U.K. tests until about a week before we return to allow for any possible change that makes sense doesn’t it?

Well thank you for your comprehensive reply and help and that made total sense, I don’t think even I can mess that up.

Hi As it stands. When you leave Spain you will have to have an antigen test within 72 hours of flying. You will also have had a 2 nd day and 8 day test booked upon your return. Available on Gov.uk website. Also in accordance with your flight  a locator form has to be completed both for you and travel companion . Hope this helps

One thing to watch out for is that if you are having a PCR test you will need to collect the paper result the day after you have it. It's not available until then.  We had one done last Wed for flying on Fri & collected the result on the Thurs. The initial appointment was for the Thurs. but we would not have had enough time to make it to the airport and also collect the test result in the same day so we changed it to a day earlier. Just remember it has to be no more than 72 hours in advance & our test cost 98€ each whereas the Antigen one is much less and is accepted in the UK but not Ireland.. The result is quicker too. Best of luck & have a safe journey - hope the op went well for you.

Hi Trevor, we have just returned to England after a trip to San Javier to check up on our apartment.

Just something to think about with regards to booking your day 2 and day 8 tests for return to the UK. We booked ours a few weeks before travelling to Spain.  On the Gov website all the private test providers are listed in price order and the prices vary enormously.  Most of the cheaper tests were saying they were sold out.  It is best to look each morning as some release more as they become available.  We paid £80 each for the two tests.

We had antigen tests to return home to England which were done in San Javier at a cost of €30 each. We had to book the tests in person with our passports and flight details. We did this on the Friday and were given our tests on the following Wednesday and were flying on the Thursday. We were given our test certificate after just a 10 minute wait.

Hope this information helps.

Thank you for this so we travel back on a Thursday if I have the cheaper test done on the Tuesday and pick the result up on Weds that will be enough to fly back to Manchester?

Hi Trevor, I can only comment on what we did in the medical centre in San Javier.  I would certainly suggest you go to the test centre and book your antigen test no later than the Friday before you fly.  If you were to book a test for the Tuesday before you fly that would be fine. We were given our certificate after just a 10 minute wait so even a test on the Wednesday would be ok.

We showed the receptionist our flight details when booking and she gave us the appointment rather than us requesting a particular day for the test.
