Interesting & important fact gleaned from Jim's Guide.

If you have to dash someone to hospital in your car, you should hang 2 white cloths from the windows.  Or wave a white cloth if that's all you've got.  Or hang/wave your high vis jacket from the window.   This alerts other cars to your emergency situation.   You can flash lights & sound horn. ......... BUT you are not entitled to speed; jump lights or break traffic law and other vehicles should give way and allow you priority on the road.      Vehicles NOT giving way or obstructing can be subject to a heavy fine!   (So be aware if you see any vehicle with cloths flapping out the windows - even if it is a football strip!)

The police may stop you but would probably give you escort/help in such an emergency.

We have now put 2 white cloths into car (donated from a white t-shirt I'm glad to see the back of - shhhh hubby doesn't know yet) to add to the other stuff you must carry in your vehicle.

Hi Peter.  Jim's Guide is a font of useful knowledge.  That one is a corker.   We're going to get the Spanish highway code and check out any other facts that might be unknown to expats.  Translating it should keep us out of the scorching sun for a few days.

Unbelievable.  Went for a drive today (I love Aircon) and there was a car with t-shirts billowing in the rear windows!  We think it was just a football shirts but gave way just in case.  How co-incidental is that given the posting I made 2 days ago.

It's incredibly hot today.  I want to go to the mythical forecast land of 32deg.  It was 35 in the shade here.  Hubby has taken up residence in the deep end of the pool & I am refusing to cook dinner until about 9pm.  He's surviving on watermelon and crisps so far today :-))    Hope everyone else is staying safe and staying cool.
