We are due to fly out Monday 23rd. We have to make a decision whether to delay our visit .We have been many times and do enjoy the beach and promenade especially the chiranguitos , Can anybody give up to date info ( or photos)on the state of the beach and general area. We realise that many workers are out doing all they can to clean up but we are bringing friends for the first time and wondered wether we should delay. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Personally I would not go.
The area and beaches are devastated.
Keep out of the way and let the clean up get on.

Hi,
Roland gives good advice.
The problem is road travel is very restrictive.
Most of us who frequent the playas on a regular basis have been advised to stay away.
At the moment the AP7 is still closed at the tunnel junction 777 and there appears to be no published date for reopening.
So movement up and down the coast is very different .
All the east coast was affected to some degree from Denia down to Almeria.
Locally in Murcia it was hit hard with the Gota Frio and the beaches are almost non existant having being washed away into the Mar Menor and it will be a long time before they will ever be classed as normal with the pleasant walkways we came to expect along this area.
Massive cleaning operations are going on just clearing houses and roads of mud rubble spolied furniture and gutted cars.
It is not a pleasant place for holidaying at the moment.
I have been helping digging out peoples apartments in LA and have seen holidaymakers arriving to find out they have no where to stay.
Check your holiday accommodation if you can direct or through agents for the latest information.
Good luck regards Al

I arrived into Alicante airport last night and drove down the N332 to Stgo de le Ribera, no issue with the road in any way.....
As for Ribera, yes the beach has been impacted and I was told today people have been advised not to swim in it, that said there were people sunbathing today and the restaurants and chiringuitos are open......the promenade has been cleaned and whilst you can still see some of the remnants of the storm it's lovely to walk in the sunshine.....and what's wrong with supporting the local businesses.....
So contrary to other opinions I'd say come on out.......enjoy it if you do.

Thank you for giving us a bit more hope. It’s good to hear something more positive. We are not ‘swim in the sea’ people but do like to use the beach for sunbathing and Beach bars.

Los Alcazares has been very hard hit. Lots of people are flying out from the UK to help with their friends clean up, as thousands of homes have been flooded. All bars in the old town were shut for some days.
Chiranguitos in many places ended in the sea.
Note the AP7 777 tunnel was still closed on Monday and all traffic was diverted around thru Pilar de Horadada, added about 10 minutes on trip to Alicante.
