Costa calida is quite a big area and public transport isn't great away from the main coastal areas. It depends what you're looking for? San pedro del pinatar and los alcazares are year round with reasonable public transport and good amenities. Anywhere else is very quiet in winter or more than 10mins inland you may struggle without a car. Maybe if you think about what is important to you and ask here you might get some good ideas of where to look.

Please do your homework:

Have you visit this aera before?

You have posted your question in the “Los Urrutias” Forum…….

Los Urrutias is a Village who belongs to Cartagena.

Los Urrutias is the name giving part of Los Urrutias, El Carmoli, Punta Brava and Estrella de Mar.

(Just for your Information I live in Punta Brava.)

What do you want, what are your dreams?

To be honest: Los Urrutias without a car is a NO GO!! There is a bus to Cartagena, but I have no idea where the bus stop is and when then bus is going. A friend of mine told me that the bus changed the route during her drive to Cartagena and not going as the time table said…(she catched the bus by accident…)

There is a train running from Los Nientos (next village to Los Urrutias but you would need a Taxi to go there) to Cartagena.

Do you speak the language? Estrella: The main language in Estrella (“citizens” are German) El Carmoli are English speaking, Punta Brava & Los Urrutias more Spanish speaking......

I agree with DAX   Los Alcazares is more "fun".

In addition to the other replies regarding area, if you are planning to move permanently, have you checked that you meet the criteria for the required visa (unless you have an Irish or other EU passport)? And to obtain a visa will take 3 months or more...
