Fran and myself (both in a reasonable fit early seventies) are spreading our wings again post covid (fingers crossed) and have booked flights for Murcia from 6th to 20th june. However we are not familiar with the area at all. We are familiar with Spain generally. We will have a car. We would like accommodation in a reasonable lively area near a beach, bars restaurants etc but suitable to our age!!

So any advice on areas to aim for would be appreciated.

The Hotel 525 in Los Alcazares has a very good reputation. There is a pool and the beach, cafes, bars and restaurants are right on your doorstep. Also coaches pick up nearby for day trips to Benidorm, Cartagena and other excursions. If you drive to the village of Balsicas which would take around 15/20 minutes you can park at the train station and go into Murcia, Alicante, Valencia. You can also easily drive into the Sierra Espuna mountains which are beautiful. Highly recommend the Hotel Mariposa in Gebas for Sunday lunch and the Ruf Mari Restaurant in Los Urrutias for a great menu del dia at lunchtime. Also the nearby coastal areas of Lo Pagan, Santiago de la Ribera and Torre de la Horadada are lovely. Hope this helps.

After our last trip across to Murcia, I am in the process of adding further information and photos to the list of recommended places to visit on the web site for our holiday rental bungalow in Camposol, which will hopefully help you plan to get the most out of your holiday - all day trips within a maximum of 2.5 hours drive from Mazarron.

Hi,

We have a 3 bed house in Lo Pagan, small gated community, 250m from bars, shop and beach.

We are planning to rent it out during the summer months, would that be of interest?

Regards

Jim

Thanks but our plan is to stay within walking distance of a beach!

Sorry, my mistake. I thought because you would have a car, you wanted to explore the area (hence the link to my guide of local sights), instead of just staying within walking distance of a beach.

Sorry, but the hotel 525 is excellent, accept the swimming pool! You can’t swim there, because your knees will touch the bottom of the pool.
why don’t you rent an apartment in Albatros complex or so?
