Booking.com is very good and you can filter your search to include pet friendly, free cancellation, 24 hour check in etc. The IBIS hotels are good. They used to charge 5 euros per dog but now charge 10 per dog but the price of the room is very reasonable. Breakfast is good as well. We also use the B & B hotels and the Kyriad hotels. The Campanile hotels are good for dogs because most rooms have their own front doors but we don’t find them as good as the others. We recently found a good Kyriad in Cestas near Bordeaux which was originally a Campanile we think because each room had its own front door and the hotel location was excellent as right on the motorway. We also like Au Compte D’Ornon in Gradignan also near Bordeaux. Very reasonable and you get a one hour pass to their sauna/jacuzzi area. Food is good and you can sit outside in the garden. Hope this helps.

Which would you say is best so the dogs can stretch their legs

To be honest we find most of the hotels are more or less the same. There is usually a car park with grass at the side so you can take them to the loo on the grass. We tend to arrive around 10pm, sleep then set off early the next day so walk them more around the Aires on the way. We also tend to stay in some right on the motorways but I’d say you could do a walk from most hotels if you wanted to. The area Le Lac in Bordeaux is nice - all the chain hotels are near each other and you have the lake which is lovely. We also like the IBIS Budget in Bayonne as lovely walks by river and nice Courtpaille restaurant in hotel. And the IBIS Budget in Marais Poitevin in Niort is also good.

Hi try logging on to Booking.com and requesting pet friendly accommodation in the areas you'd like to stay.  Depends over how many days you want to spread the journey.  We found 3 nights was comfortable, we were driving to Castalla, on toll free roads. Good luck and happy travels, Pam

Following too, as thinking of going from Lorca to Kent at Christmas with our dog. Did you have to book the tunnel? And are you coming from Folkestone or Dover? We’ve never done this trip before so a bit clueless.
