Are the ITV stations open in Molina de Segura.

Local idle chatter suggested that there was a 6 month period of grace allowed from the date of expiry.      I have paid little heed to this as the source seems to think that what applies in England applied here to the English.

The only sort of news you should believe, the government law. I have booked an ITV at San Javier - a bit of a backlog but got one May 25th when I went online Monday 11th.

My Itv was due 22/5 and on the 11th I managed to make a booking for that very date(Villena). However I had wanted a service and pre itv check beforehand but garage cant fit it in. From your timescale sheet, am I correct in reading I have a guarranteed extension to November so could cancel and rebook for a much later date.(I would think most people will go to extra date to get more time for free). I am here with a Uk van 2 days before lockdown and my ferry for June return was cancelled and I,m aware of Uk extending by 6mnths(verified in a phone call as dont want my van confiscated in Spain). However motoring bodies in Uk are now asking government to cancel extensions as mot stations are open and they feel vehicles will be driven dangerously without the mots being done at correct time. Things change daily, hard to keep up, but if I cant get a pre check and service done before 25th, would rather rebook for later if possible.

Regards

Pauline.

Hi Iam a bit confused. You are in Spain with a uk van and it sounds like you want to get it tested in Spain. I thought you could only mot a uk vehicle in the uk. Sorry if I sound a bit dumb.

Chas I was asking about the extension to spanish itv,s for my spanish car. Our Uk van which is only used for the journey is due its mot on 3rd July. Hope that clears the confusion. I havent cancelled the itv for 22nd but havent been able to get garage to service first. I see the extension is to get the itv done but the original date still stands as next expiry date, so no free 6months(shame). Lol.

Pauline.

I would suggest assuming the car feels generally alright getting a local garage to change the oil (they always look at the dipstick), have a good look round yourself at all the lights, check the wipers then give it a blast on the way to the ITV and get it done and out of the way.

We bought it last year, all wipers need replacing, and engine management light comes on intermittently. We did have 3 small notices to do and dont know when last serviced. It was our intention to get a service early March but lockdown stopped that. I,ll still try for a quick oil change and new wipers and pre itv check then book service for later. We,ve only done 1500kms since itv 2019. Thanks for advice.

Hola   for the first time ever  I had the ITV yesterday in San Javier

I booked on line      found plenty of appointments free

then I was given (via e-mail)  a letter if stopped by the police to show I was on my way for the ITV

so the way I would look at the ITV      if open       you can book in            it is far safer to spend the €40

then risk a fine

Update - I did manage to get local garage to sort out the defects mentioned last year's mot and do a service and pre itv check,(did cost 440€). Parts a lot more than Uk prices but done. Then Friday took to itv centre, passed, no indications and tester said "car was perfect".(not bad for 20yrs old). That done, just wish I didnt have to worry over our Uk van due 3rd July mot. Uk govt due to stop extensions any day now, and had to rebook ferry for 29th June, but if cancelled, will have no mot, dont relish journey home. If we,d got the extension, we could have returned in October at a saving of £700( 2 lots of fuel plus ferry booking). Nothing ever goes our way, so disappointed. The Dvsa couldnt even offer me any leeway or letter to explain I,d queried it and said just get it done as soon as arrive into Uk. We live Newcastle arrive Uk late afternoon, they said book appointment in Portsmouth prior to arrival. Such a hassle, not doing that.
