We are looking at purchasing a home in Fortuna. Has anyone purchased in this area and can you give us advice or information?

We bought a small town house in Blanca which is over that way. It's a beautiful area but not many ex-pats around compared with places nearer the coast.

Thank you... I don't think that will bother us.

We have a viewing trip end of this month so that will give us a better idea.

We haven't been to Fortuna before.

OK have you seen a property you like the look of there then? Do you speak any Spanish? Personally we love it there away from the busy tourist areas.

There are a couple of places we have seen that look really nice. We are quite flexible about the area ... it just has to fit our budget which has got substantially tighter since Brexit as you can imagine! Initially because our friends had bought on Camposol, we were looking there but the more I think about it, I dont think that would suit us, although there seems to be a nice community there. We love walking and there is very little to see within walking distance at Camposol... just rows upon rows of houses or scrub land.

I know very little Spanish but I would like to learn and would be happy to try some classes to improve faster.

Yes we thought about Camposol but you have to be very careful there from what I've heard/read as there are some properties which have huge subsidence issues there. I found a video on YouTube called Camposol Hell which put me off a bit :-(

A bit of Spanish would be really handy in that area as because it's away from the tourist areas there is less English spoken. Plus people really take to you when they see you try to speak their language. I can recommend a site called DuoLingo which I use - it's free and you do a few lessons each day. Another good one is Bola de nieve or Synergy Spanish which can get you up and running quickly. You can get a free trial to see if it suits you.

Thank you so much! That is very handy to know.

Currently we run a small family business here in the UK but we find the very short holidays that we do get are peppered by work problems so I end up feeling I should have stayed at home. Im hoping this will give us a way of juggling the work and enjoying the holiday, enabling us to have more than just 7 days but also keeping the business afloat. (and Im fed up with this miserable weather!)

We moved to just outside Fortuna at Xmass with not a word of Spainish but we have an estate agent who has done a great job looking after us. It's great fun trying to learn the lingo, you try then so do the Spaniards. When are you coming
