Hi, just wondering if you lovely people out there could tell me what it's like living around the Fortuna area. We are constantly looking for a home in Costa Calida, have always looked around Campasol but I've started widening my search & have seen some beautiful property in Fortuna for sale, so would really love to  hear from anyone who has anything good or bad to say. Thanks Gina ☺

Hello Gina, not sure if you'd had any replies yet, my wife and I have been in Fortuna now for 3 years. We moved directly from Scotland. We find Fortuna has everything you need. Its 45 minutes to the airport and only 20 minutes to the Nueva Condimenea shopping centre. Normally all beaches are an hour's drive from Alicante down to Cartagena. Fortuna isn't a holiday destination but there is so much things to do in the area. Have a look on Google you'll be surprised.

We have our villa up for sale but we do intend to stay in the area, we are only downsizing. Have a drive through some time. It also has a market day on a Saturday where you can get all your fresh vegetables. There are also many bars and restaurants Spanish & English all very welcoming.

Many Thanks

Thank you for your reply, I have looked it up on Google & it looks beautiful. We are hoping to persuade our children & there families to come with us!!! As I think it would be a wonderful place to bring up the grandchildren but they are worried about jobs, schools & healthcare which I understand so will prob be just the two of us. I will investigate further ☺

That's great your doing your homework and looking before you buy. We didn't, never even heard of Fortuna until we bought the villa. we wouldn't go back now although you are right, unless you speak fluent Spanish then there is little chance of work.

Ive actually started careing which means being away from home but that seemed to have been my only option.

I'm sure you'll find your dream home soon.

Good Luck

Hi Gina,

I may be a bit late to this party but have only just found the forum.

Fortuna is quite a remarkable place, I didn't know this until my Ladies Brother in Law came to stay. He is a Geologist and told us many fascinating facts about Fortuna as apparently it is a Geologists dream. This is where Africa and Europe meet (tectonic plates that is) hence the local mountains.

The local Roman baths are wonderful with a 36 degree mineral pool. The weather is as you would expect but it can be windy at times. There are some great local restaurants, I have one within walking distance where I can get a full three course lunch plus local wine and coffee for 12 euros. The medical facilities are very good and they speak a little English. Shops and supermarkets are available and the main shopping centre is about 20 mins away. Fortuna is relatively quite (apart from the normal barking dogs) but very friendly.

Kind regards Steve

Look a bit further towards Aguilas and Calabardina. I own a house in Calabardina. I live in Australia now . We rent it but would like to sell . It’s available for rentals now if you want to try it . We have some holiday bookings in July and August. But after that it’s free to rent or buy . View the property on Oasis properties Aguilas it’s the rustic coloured house 3 beds 2 baths pool at the rear

Would not sell but in Australia for at least 4 yrs Shsro
