We have been resident in Spain under the Spanish health system for 20 years. Recently had 2 private operations at IMED. Very good care.Considering private insurance to cover future needs. The following have been suggested to us which IMED use-

Mapfre, dkv,sanitise,adeslas Asia.

Please give me opinions. We are 72 and 74.

Thank you

Hi Rocchett,

I am 73 and have used Sanitas for the last few years and IMED. Both have been brilliant. The new IMED hospital in Murcia have been exceptional and Sanitas have authorised every procedure I have needed and I  have had 32 visits this year alone to either IMED or Sanitas themselves.

Good health to you both.

Steve.

I have used Sanitas (which is part of the BUPA group) for 4 years (fortunately not having to use it much).

I've been happy with the prices and the service - English-speaking customer service and app, etc.

I would advise you to shop around, as premiums are based on age and pre-existing conditions, so your age and recent ops may lead to higher premiums.

All that said, I have friends who have used the Spanish health system under their S1 entitlement for years and they have always been happy with the care that they have received.

Hope this helps!

Not quite sure why you felt the need to use private health care as the Spanish health system is second to none. Lived here for over 15 years and found no fault with them. To cut back on waiting times, they often use private health facilties at no charge.
