Hello all.

We're going to be needing a taxi to and from Alicante to our house in Los Periquitos two or three times a year, starting next month.

Are there any reliable Fortuna taxis, or does everyone use Murcia services?

When I had a place in Ibiza there were a lot of expats who clubbed together and we all helped each other by dropping/collecting from the airport throughout the year; it worked really well, saving a lot of money, and queuing!

I have no doubt that this wasn't a unique idea, and was wondering if anything like this exists within the Fortuna ex-pat community?

Any information gratefully received as always!

Kevin

I would suggest that the "club" concept would be illegal as there would be some form of payment, invalidating the insurance?

No doubt if there was a formal club membership and articles of memorandum!

However, for a group of friends who got together in bars and restaurants to enjoy  life, and shared transport to and from airports, beaches, etc.  .....  I think not :)

Any lifts that are given for payment of any kind are considerd illegal and invalidate any insurance and incur large fines and car confiiscation

We maybe we could do it on a free reciprocal basis ? I’d be up for it !

I read many posts from Brits who have moved to Spain who say they are important to the Spanish economy.

Finding dubious ways to avoid using legal services is the very opposite of this ideal.

What next? Instead of going to local bars why not club together to buy Larios gin and Mercadona tonic and have all your mates round to drink it? Just as illegal, just as mean.

What exactly is the problem if a friend or neighbour drops/or collects you  from the airport and you reciprocate ?

Maybe you don’t have many with such a negative attitude !

As long as friends doing a favour, it is not illegal. Exactly as you would do in the UK!

Perhaps looking to organise on a forum, might be deemed otherwise, but can only assume that the authorities would be unaware!

Correct, that if someone did this for payment then it would invalidate insurance cover, etc., but we and our friends help each other out/reciprocate through the year for no reward or payment, so cannot see why this would be a problem.

Nothing illegal inviting friends round for a drink, so perhaps not the best analogy!

We have agreed in the past, but not on this occasion.
